Years End…
I had wanted to get a special new “baby new year” strip done for the occasion, but honestly, the holidays have been quite busy here. With the moving, moving around, kids off of school… Maybe this week???? I hope so, I have the perfect baby new year to show you.
What can I say about this past year? I’d give a full run down on my thoughts, but you’d likely just skim over it.
In summary, 2006 has been the year of my life so far. I started it out turning thirty, and not knowing what the year would bring. Then I decided abruptly to start putting out my own monthly full color comic book and distributing it all on my own. A success, but a tedious one as I had promised to sign and draw inside every copy sold. Little did I know it would sell THAT well….. 5 issues later, I found myself a little burnt out from the doing it all myself, but still exhilarating in a way. And you all know the story about how I entered some contest and won it and now I’m really busy and happy at the moment with work, right? — And yeah, it’s chipped into the Yirm schedule quite a bit, putting it on a hiatus of sorts, but still I’m producing MORE work than I’ve ever done. I even get to work along side an old friend.
Beyond all the art career stuff…. early this year saw me paying off our first house– we were land owners in Fayette-Nam! This year also marks 10 years with my bootyful bride Calypso. Her grandfather passed away in April and left a deep depressing hole in our hearts. We know where the good fish go though. Ever since, it really does feel like an angel looking out for us. From May on, all good things. Even beyond taking my chances and winning that contest, we also found a NEW HOUSE. A much bigger house, which is what we needed DESPERATELY. And now I’m here, typing away in MY OWN OFFICE! An actual office…
THIRTY. Go figure.
My resolutions for 2007? Loose some weight. I’d like to do 1300 steps each morning on my elliptical machine to start, then go from there. Right now, it makes an amazing coat rack! Beyond health stuff, I want to keep this ship afloat, and pump everything I can into the Hero By Night projects. So far, so good. Sky’s the limit I’ve heard, and there are some great things on the horizon. Hey, why not let’s see a Movie, kids animated series and a collectible trading card game while we’re at it?
Thanks for all your support. The votes… the e-mails, well wishes. You’re a little bit of fuel that keeps the fires burning.
Now, I’m off to chug Guinness and or Jack and Coke. (I’m out of rum.) (why is the rum always gone?) …. (oh, that’s why.)
See you in 2007…. just around the bend.

I’ve always found I think best when running or doing other exersise. Maybe when you’re on the machine you should have a sketchpad or a tape recoreder handy.
How’s that for extra motivation?
