Why The Steelers Will Beat The Colts Today.

As I’ve said… I’m not even an avid sports fan— but being from this area, there’s something magical about watching the Steelers grind it out every week. This is the year… one for the thumb.

It’s pretty early as I write this, 6a.m.’ish to be exact. So forgive me for rambling…

I should type in that I should bite my tongue and say something like “I might be wrong by the end of the day…”- but I won’t. The Steelers ARE going to beat the Colts today. And here’s why…..

#1 - According to an ESPN poll I saw on TV, EVERY STATE, all 50 of em, have the COLTS as favorites to win. They did a red and blue map sort of thing like in the elections, and it was ALL red. Let me tell you, the Steelers play MUCH better when they feel like they are the underdogs and they want to beat you to rub it in your face. That’s the Steel City way after all.

#2 - The Colts are getting cocky. This is a lesson they should have learned from the Steelers themselves. In the past, when the Steelers have done well, then got out and yammered their mouths before a big game… they lose. Badly. I heard the Colts were gloating about how they beat the Steelers last time… This angered many of the Steelers stars because the Colts might have forgetten the Steelers were missing some of their key players, and Ol’ Ben Roethlisberger just returned after a 3 week layoff from knee surgery. — So #2 centers around the fact that the Steelers, again, Love to make you eat your words. Steeler’s coach Bill Cowher has told his team to remain focused and keep their mouths shut with the trash talk, and they have. Well, cept Joey Porter who simply says “I’m going to put on my BIG BOY pants and go play a BIG BOY game.” — Nuff Said.

#3 - I bought a Roethlisberger McFarlane figure and it’s hanging on my wall as good luck. So, I mean, that right there seals the deal that the Colts are doomed.

#4 - It’s about damn time. The Steelers FINALLY are a team with a real leader on the field. It’s been a loooong time since that’s happened. Privately, most of the Steelers are saying they want Bettis to get a Super Bowl ring on his last year. They love the guy, and they are all playing their hearts out for it. I don’t think they really care about the flash and the glory, they just want to go out there and get the job done.

Go Steelers.

I think Polamalu is gonna fuck the Colts world up. Now that is a big play defender if I’ve EVER seen one.

  2. Kaua'i Says:

It’s about damn time you show some islanders respect, Murch!

For me, it doesn’t really matter either way. It should be a great game though.

At least the Pats are not in it this year.

  3. Murch Says:

Hey man, you’re the only Islander I don’t show respect to! I’m a good friend like that, darkie ;)

  4. DJ Says:

14 to nothing in the first quarter. The Steelers are F*CKING them up bad!

  5. Murch Says:

Yeah man, the Colts are looking UGLY. I’m loving this shit.

  6. RichK Says:

If you’re not dead from watching that game DJ, congrats to you and your thumb.

    Now go take a pee.

  7. DJ Says:

The thumb will be NEXT weekend when they beat the Broncos. I don’t have enough of a feel on that one yet to say definitively like I did today that the Steelers will win.

    I’ll know by Friday.

But clearly, just like I said, the Steelers brought IT ALL. And they even overcame that bullshit crooked ref job at the end! WOW! All of the anchors agree, something was totally up with that deal. Luckily, the Steelers overcame the crooked crap people throw at them this year.

  8. wood Says:

We we were right dude. Colts chocke in the playoffs againg and the steelers play a steeler game. They were the better team. Running the football and playing some dayum defense is how you win ball games. Back to the drawing boards for Dungy and crew. GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Eric Poole Says:

Whew!!! We survived the noise, Peyton Manning, and the screw job the refs were trying to pull on us, but goddammit we’re GOING TO DENVER!!! How different are we on the road then we are at home. It’s like we’re two different teams. I must fess up. I believed we’d play well but ultimately lose a close one, but my girlfriend, who knows nothing of football, stood by her Steelers win prediction all the way. I may be talking out of my ass right now, but I honestly think we’ll manhandle Denver. HERE WE GO STEELERS, HERE WE GO!!!!

  10. Jacob Bond Says:

As a Chiefs fan and from KC I’m praying with my entire heart and soul that the Steelers crush and humilate the Broncos. And then pee in their Gatorade. Yeah, that should do it….

  11. DJ Says:

You know what, now that the Patriots and Colts are out of the way, I don’t think ANYTHING is going to stop these Steelers. The Patriots would have made them a little nervous over last year’s thing.

Steelers all the way. They definitly have the right attitude this year.

  12. Jacob Bond Says:

The Broncos will be tough for them, especially in Denver, but if they can get the same underdog emotional push that you said they had this past week, then they at least have a fighting chance.

But if they’re going to win that game, they can’t underestimate the Broncos for even a second.

  13. Bassetking Says:

Man… that fumble on the 2 yard line… Nail biting, DJ, Nail biting.

  14. Jeff Lowrey Says:

That has got to be one of the worst field goal kicks in the history of the game.

  15. ERic Says:

Agreed, I thought that it was going into overtime fur sure, you gotta applaud the Colts last minute rush though.

  16. NickleSlots Says:

I have always rooted for the steelers, even though personally I want to see the Seahawks go all the way, I am rooting for the Steelers as well. All you need to do to Beat Denver is shut down plummer, like they shut down Manning, and you can beat the broncs. Keep the run game closed, and the steelers shall be victorious. I just dont want the Grizzley Adams that is Jake Plummer going to the super bowl till he quits lookin like he climbed out of Deliverance.

  17. Chezik Says:

Denver has a better overall defense than the Steelers.

That said: We’re boned. Plummer is still just a mediocre qb, and Mike Anderson is a terrible running back. While I think we’ll do better than the Steelers on defense, there’s no way we can match their offense.

Oh well. At least we won a playoff game this year. Fucking Broncos.

    (Bronco Fan)
