Weekend Ramblings… The Latest and Greatest

LOADS of things going on here at the homefront. Yesterday I was alerted that the links over on my Keenspot archive in the dropdowns were all jacked up. I found out that when I did the batch upload, something screwey was going on on somebodies end, (probably mine) where it would upload chunks, then skip some comics and upload more chunks…. SO the answer was some very tedious work of going through parts of the archive and finding comics that are missing that that one, with side by side screens of the new and old archive. UGH!!!! But, it’s worth it— So, go visit the NEW archives and poke around. If you ever catch one that’s not in there, let me know.

HERO BY NIGHT update. Well, the work with editors at Platinum has begun, and it’s been fun. I’m reworking a few minor things in my plots I had written, and also I’ve reworked the main badguy to not be a straight up Nazi Alchemist, because it was too close to the Nazi Occultists in the HELLBOY movies. — You can see my guy in the top corner of THIS PAGE. And if you’re not familiar with the Hellboy bad guy Nazi robot dude, here he is. — Now, while they’re not the same, they’re a little too close for comfort and the last thing I need is people thinking I ripped of Mignola’s work. Nazis are just COOL old school bad guys! —- anyway, I worked out an even BETTER background for the guy, but you’ll all have to wait for the actual book OR webcomic to find out more! ;) You don’t get many CLIFFHANGERS like that in a blog, do you!?

Actually, the work on HBN this week I can tell it’s going to be almost a FULL TIME thing to get it right, so I’ve taken a break from drawing the LIFE’S A BLUFF, but it’s planned that Brandon Carr will be drawing it in my place. I really wanted to keep all these things going, but I don’t want to screw any of them up by not focusing on them enough. Yirmumah’s ORIGIN stories and the Hero By Night project are going to be enough for me to handle right now. I could be back on it, and we actually have some dealings with some Poker Magazines and stuff to possibly have the strip in mags more often. That could be interesting.

On the personal side of things… our house is too small and outgrew our family a couple years ago, so we’re dealing with all sorts of bank and home stuff to see if we can’t get a bigger place on our back lot. We’re lucky to own a nice piece of land here in Fayette-Nam…well, maybe not the Fayette-Nam part, but you get what I’m sayin. So, beyond actual WORK, I’ve been dealing with tracking down people, and phone junk… like one thing that’s funny, I guess you have to have a “holding tank” for your crap, right? Well, since they are doing an all new sewer system here in the next 365 days, they will give you one temporarily until all the hookups and stuff are GO. BUT, you have to have the Yough Sanitary inspect it… but Yough Sanitary doesn’t exist yet. Luckily for us though, the home place we’re going through is now tracking all this stuff down for us. The other home place just sat on their hands and did a lot of run around crap, and well, they lost our business because of it. This new place is rocking so far. Of course, this means I have to actually start making and stockpiling some money soon.

That’s it! Im being summoned to go outside of the house and let SUN actually shine on me.

SHUDDER!!!!

Wow. Nice work on the Hero By Night stuff. It looks really really cool.

I was just down in Fayette-Nam last week. My grandmother owns a farm just north of Addison, right on the Youghi… lake. When I saw that LaFayette sign I was all like, “holy crap, this is where D.J. Coffman lives… I had no idea.”

Get this, nobody else knew who D.J. Coffman was, nor were they sufficiently impressed when I told them he’s a famous-ass contest-winning webtoon author.

Anyhow, Fayette County is beautiful… but I think I’d go crazy living up there in the hills. I suppose there’s a fine line between “go crazy” and “get inspired”, though. I hope you can tread it.
