Web Hosting

Web Hosting

Do you want a website like this?

Get Dreamhost.

Why Dreamhost? Well, for $7.95 /mo. you get:

  • 2.4 gigs of storage
  • 120 gigs of throughput/bandwidth
  • Unlimited databases
  • 600 inboxes
  • 3 domains
  • A streaming server
  • A jabber server
  • Full shell access

Great control panel

Once you sign up you get access to a really nice control panel that lets you administer all aspects of your account.

One-click software installs

To me, best thing about Dreamhost is the “One Click Installs” feature. You can set up a Wordpress blog, with just one click. All you have to do is choose your new domain name. They will register the domain name, set up the database, templates, directory structure, everything for you. Within minutes, you will have a blog running on your domain.

They also have “One Click Installs” for phpBB Forum, Advanced Poll, osCommerce Store, all installed for you with a single click. Unbelievably easy.

Earn Rewards

Like alot of hosting companies, Dreamhost has a referal plan in place, whereby you can refer your friends and associates to dreamhost, and recieve a generous bounty for everyone who signs up. I’m talking about $97.00 per person. Now, THAT buys a lot of art supplies!

So, If you have been contemplating putting up a website, look into Dreamhost before you make your final decision on a hosting company. Just click my link to tell them Yirmumah sent you!

Wow. I may be contacting you privately for more details, such as the quality of tech support, average downtime, blah blah blah.

I’ve been needing to upgrade my site for awhile now (to this very package), and who I’m with now will charge me more…

  2. Playda Sax Says:

Doesn’t this scream “pyramid scheme”? Amway anyone?

  3. Adam Black Says:

Bah. If me getting a better hosting package for less than I’ll be paying now gives DJ some bucks, I don’t really give a damn.

  4. DJ Says:

No scheme here. I’ve used Dreamhost for years!– So I appreciate them giving me some money back.

Actually, it’s cool because it ends up paying for your own hosting for almost a year just by having one other person sign up through you…. so I can’t complain.

  5. Cameron Says:

Seems like they’re over selling to me, which I could be wrong. I mean how many accounts are on one server, how much cpu time is given to each account, things like that. If your site is intensive (e.g. running Wordpress with out some kind of catching mechanism) shared hosts tend to get a bit annoyed.

But, if it works for you, its probably worth the money.

  6. DJ Says:

Well, I had a HUGE problem with CPU usage when I got slammed by Penny Arcade traffic, and instead of closing me down, they moved me to my own test server until things cooled off…. Dreamhost is awesome– worth 7.95 a month? HELL YEAH! Actually, i think i end up paying about 9.95 a month for my stuff– I pay once a year, not including my urls domain names— it comes with some of them though.

Hey, a long time listener, first time caller. The thing with hosts is that a lot of people will sign up for this plan but only 2-5% will usully make a dent in the traffic allowance or whatnot, you have to advertise pretty heavily before you get the hits. Its not like every one of those signer uppers will go through 120 gigs a month. Probably more like 5 so yeah. As far as the cpu time goes, a lot of people have static pages so you know, not an issue.

  8. DJ Says:

Evan– true– this would most likely be for someone who’s looking to do a webcomic, or host videos, images, and never run out of space as easily. Also, it could very well be for someone who wants a blog, but has no idea how to set one up– the one click installs of Wordpress make running a fully operational battle system a breeze! I like the Wordpress engine so much, I made it into my homepage.

  9. Jason Embury Says:

It’s definitely not a scam at all. I’ve been using them for over a year now (thanks to Deej) and I’ve gotten referral money myself in that time. Their customer service IS top notch, and yeah, those one click installs are pretty sweet! :)

I’m sure there is nothing fishy about the scheme itself… But I was a bit taken aback by your little mini-review, DJ, you need to give it some context, that you are actually promoting a system that benefits you. I dunno, I guess maybe I could have used a better intro to this post you made regarding servers and whatnot. The post you made looks like it could have come from dreamhost itself, instead of being independent…. Just my two cents, I swear I pass these pennies around so much that they’ve turned into Canadian currency, or cheaper ;-)

I really don’t hate Canada. Their current advantage in the exchange rate because my “president” continues with these irresponsible policy plans is hardly their fault.
