Vote thing??
I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Vote lists. Actually, never loved them at all, but they do help bring in new readers. So what do you guys think? Should I put a vote button at the bottom of every blog entry? Listen, if I do this, it will be the LAST time I try BuzzComix, if they mess up this time, they’re done forever. I hate wasting your time clicking, and my time adding the ads to certain parts of the site. It’s really hard to get to the top of the list, which baffles me– but now that we’re rocking a pretty solid audience of about 5000 returning people (IPs) a day, and that’s not counting thousands more a day who swing in randomly. If I can only remind you guys to vote without being a pest. I made up this little banner, when you see it, click it . You can do so once a day, and confirm your vote. If we get up there in the rankings maybe I’ll do some vote-only exclusives or something.

I’ve always felt dubious about those vote lists. Has it pulled in readership for you in the past? There’s no accurate way to correlate referrals to regular viewers without some fairly advanced time-based data mining algorithms. Maybe there’s some way you guys can pool resources and concentrate on promoting Boxcar - and let that site be one big promotion engine for everyone’s comic.
But hey, if you do the vote thing, I’m sure a bunch of us would vote on your behalf, myself included.

Well, techincally, i don’t think you can run groups on there as a whole. BUT– we could encourage Boxcar readers to vote for Boxcar selected comics on the list.. hehe…– I dont know any other boxcar people who have signed up–
We have mined some new readers in from there, just people telling us they found us on Buzz, etc, in the past. The statistic stuff on their end is pretty good too, i mean for tracking hits in and out.
Maybe I’m just a feirce competitor and I can’t stand that Yirmumah isn’t at the top of these gay lists. (***gay means happy! :))

I voted and I’ll vote for you guys as much as I remember too.
Hopefully buzz will stick with it this time. They’ve shit the bed quite a few times already. If buzz does shit the bed, then fuck’em…you’ve got us!

Yeah, they track in and out but I mean tracking their “in” to your site with a rise in overall repeat readership - that correlation is trickier. Or is it? Maybe you have some rockin’ stats programs.
Gay means happy? Don’t be gay! I mean happy! No wait, be happy! Don’t worry… *argh.* My IP address may show that I’m in Virginia but I’m not *that* guy.

Yeah, it’s trickier to see people who actually stick around, but I can sort of mathematically figure out that if I’m getting good referrals from there, and then I do have a setting for “returning Unique IPS” — that means people who have returned within the past 24 hours I think… right now, that number is in the 4000’s –which is awesome! Some people check in every couple days though.
I figure it doesnt hurt… it’s free… but goddamn it, if they screw it up again, I’ll totally write them off.

Well all I have to say is I put my vote in, and I hope that you’ll soon be on top of that list. Especially above… Alien loves Predator… *sigh…

Aww…I like aLp.
The one I can’t stand is friggin Girly…Before bCx went down back in may we were trying to get that one in the top spot again so it would be put in the “Hall of Fame” and not have to gaze at it craptacualr banner anymore…
If you actually get all those invividual people to vote…everyday…then you’ll definitely take the top spot, no problem.
