I can live with the fact that Queensryche came in at #8. I can live with the fact that (for some misguided reason) REM is on that list above Metallica and Kiss. I’m used to bullshit like that. Stupid college kids. Sheesh.

But how the hell did Bon Jovi end up on the list? The mind boggles.

  2. DJ Says:

My wife would be happy that Bon Jovi made that list.. but it also makes me cringe.

  3. Mitch Clem Says:

USA Today? You mean McNews? What do they know about rock music?

  4. Darren Says:

Skewed Voting, just like that channel, what’d they call it, MTV?
Grad Students can’t afford cable TV!
Naming something ‘The Best” based on opinion is flawed. You can only base things on statistics, e.g. Best-Selling, etc. Bunch of subjective shit.

  5. Jeremy Says:

Reagan also just got chosen as the number one American, so…

  6. GraphicArtist2k5 Says:

That is very true, naming something the “best” whatever is a subjective and entirely opinionated thing to do, because who will say that Pearl Jam is the BEST American rock band, when they’re not the ONLY American rock band to come out with awesome music? I will say that they are extremely awesome, but to say they’re the “best”, meaning, NO other band can touch them musically, is just crap. What about Velvet Revolver? What about Soundgarden? What about Stone Temple Pilots? Sure, Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots are no longer together, BUT this is about who the “best” rock band is, right? That’s my point, calling anything the “best” is like saying that NOTHING else comes close to that thing that you are calling the “best”. Personally, I DESPISE MTV, because they don’t know a DAMN thing about music, when they don’t even show music videos that much at all as it is. All they play is what is popular, and so what if there’s also MTV2? Why does that channel even have to exist? So MTV can continue justifying their inability to play music freaking videos by saying, “But there’s MTV2, and we show music videos on that channel instead.” I like what you said about USA Today, mitch, because they don’t know a freaking thing about rock music. Them saying that this or that or whatever else is the “best” is like asking a women’s magazine what the “best” brand of men’s underwear is, or what the best brand of razors are for men. HOW THE HELL WOULD THEY KNOW? They’re not men, and USA Today are sure as hell not the final authority on who the “best” rock band is. Have we forgotten the ones who paved the freaking way for Pearl Jam, such as Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and a WHOLE slew of other rock bands that came out well before any of them were even gleams in their parents’ eyes? Anyhoo, that’s my opinion on this matter, sorry if it dragged on a little too long……

  7. DJ Says:

Still, Pearl Jam IS the greatest American Rock Band. No matter what anyone says.

  9. GraphicArtist2k5 Says:

whoa, there, buddy boy, I’m not like a good jockstrap, if that’s what you were sayin’…don’t go getting all frisky on me, cause I don’t play like that…..J/K, I know ur joking, of course, and I agree, to some extent, just listen to what you like to listen to, and let everyone else do the same.
