Update from the fortress of Yirmumahtude

I’m way busy wrapping up some art on issue 2 of Hero By Night and getting into art on issue 3 this coming week. I won’t lie, I’m loving every minute out of drawing the Hero stuff. I know I can come back to the Yirmumah stuff and do it right later– but for now this feels really nice, so thanks for a lot of you folks who are sort of following my work over there as well. For those who only want Yirmumah flavored stuff, never fear, I will always do that stuff, but thanks for understanding that I have priorities here.

The past couple weeks has SUCKED on the homefront. We had the busted frozen pipes, then the damn heater went out the other night– so there’s been some sucky excitement in that department.

I’ve been in the mood lately to “draw for fun” too, but no time to really get down and do something. I thought it might be fun to sketch up some stuff of other people’s characters or something like that.

There are some exciting things coming up in March. Platinum is flying me out for the Wizard World show and treating me like a friggin king of comics, and the book finally hits store shelves all over the country. I’m really excited about the feedback i’ve heard from retailers who’ve ordered just because “it looked fun.”

Instead of sitting around on my tuckus and only worrying about my own well being, I’ve been thinking of ways that OTHER creators can make money drawing webcomics, and possible freelance type models to do. I mean, wouldn’t it be cool if you could make a couple grand a month just drawing a comic strip??? Well, I’ll hit up the close talented friends I have first with these ideas or offers. People like Joe Dunn, Zach Miller, Mitch Clem… everyone has differing cartooning styles, I might hit up my cousin in law, Scott Reed who runs his own super hero comic over at web’s best. It would be an even cooler feeling if I could hook up people like my old pal Jim Rugg and get him in on the webcomic scene…. or comic veteran Ernie Stiner. That mother crunker drew NIck Fury agent of shield! It’s exciting to think about not only getting those people some paying gigs, but bringing a whole new level to the webcomics scene. Make something different happen, and maybe revolutionize comics a bit in the process. Anyway, I’m making a short list of talented folks I know… just in case something goes down.

Not that anything IS going down… but you know, I just thought I’d mention it. Because you never know when IT’S GOING DOWN!

Random thing I learned this weekend….. it’s really fun playing monopoly with the family. It’s fun watching my five year old count out the money, and buy up properties and get excited…. but then it SUCKS REALLY BAD when he starts to lose at the end and doesn’t want to pay rent on your hotels….. then he becomes like godzilla and destroys the board.

I won, but I’m rechallenging my wife to late night strip monopoly now! Woo-hoo!
