The Possibilities

Changes

Looks like Platinum’s first online comic, Cowboys and Aliens, went live yesterday. Man, the art looks really nice on that, especially the coloring. When I first heard of the concept or name, I thought “Huh?” but being a fan of Westerns, Sci-Fi and general comic booky goodness. Plus, I’m excited about the Platinum comics coming out soon (including mine) and this is a great looking first step. (imho)

Cowboys and Aliens looks sharp. And the world didn’t end either.
I like his layouts and little details.

Speaking of likeing stuff I haven’t said so but I like what you’ve been doing with Orgins. Keep up the good work

Ahh, that tall man brought flowers….. bet ‘ya a fiver he’s on “the register” ….dirty pervert.

    peace out yo.

  3. Schroddfather Says:

The artwork on Cowboys and Aliens is stunning. Anyone know how they do it? Is it a program or did someone draw it?

  4. DJ Says:

Schrodd– the Cowboys stuff is just drawn in black and white, then colored in photoshop– very nice colorist there.

  5. Rich Kempter Says:

Damn DJ, you got some competition. :)

  6. MadduckUK Says:

Its a good thing there no limit to how many were allowed to read eh? no so much competition as company.

origins is fantastic so far. the kind of story that makes you wish you could be cryogenically frozen for the lengh of time it runs then you get to read it all in one sitting

  7. Schroddfather Says:

Thanks DJ for the info on Cowboys & Aliens.

If you’re in a giving mood - are there any drawing programs out there that give a halfway decent result? I’ve been kicking around the idea of doing a webcomic myself, but can’t draw for beans. Only one I saw that was halfway worth a damn was Comic Book Creator. And from the promo webpages, any result would still be kinda amateurish, but might get my point across OK.

  8. DJ Says:

I don’t know of any programs that straight up do the work for you. There is some Manga program I saw online somewhere for the bubbles, etc, I think there is a 50 dollar version of that and could be used for more than just MANGA style, if you know what I mean– http://www.e-frontier.com/go/mangastudio_hps

  9. joe_iguana Says:

erm….ok…if you can’t draw for beans, i’d suggest finding an artist..anything a program makes for you will always seem ‘artificial’ because..well..it is artificial. lmao. that’s like saying: “man i wish I could make a finished painting like Rembrandt, but dammit, I can’t paint! I sure wish I could have a program do it all for me….”. :S

  10. Schroddfather Says:

Um, Joe Iguana, that may be easier said than done. Who’d want to offer free artwork to a nobody? Plus, I’m ornery and want to tell my story my own way. Which means doing it when and how I want to.

But anyway, these questions are probably better addressed in the forum….I’ll take it there.
