The End Is Nigh…

I like the word NIGH. Man, wouldn’t it be awesome if the world just ended tomorrow? In like a FLASH or something???
My oldest son Devin is turning 9 years old today. Damn, they grow fast.. it’s true. He’s the one who sneaks away and reads the Yirmumah comic books and I have to remind him that there are bad words in there and bad words are BAD!!! Nine years went too fast me thinks… 9 more, he’ll be 18….
He’s a military genius. It’s freaking wild… he can name all sorts of WW2 battlefields and just about ANY weapon and what military uses it. So, I imagine when he’s 18, he’ll be off to Yale or Harvard or some big school.. I want to keep him WAY WAY WAY away from the actual military though… and wars, etc.
ANYWAY… Hey, I feel bad never mentioning monthly sponsor Brent Norris.. he’s a longtime sponsor and reader who well, sponsors every month well in advance and has done so since the start of the sponsorship dealy. He doesn’t have a fancy webcomic or anything, but judging from his family blog, he has one hell of a farm going. WOW! LINK… — That and he has MUCH more smarts than me as witnessed by his home page, http://brentnorris.net/
Well, if the world DOES end tomorrow… thanks for reading! We had some cheap laughs together, eh? And if it doesn’t, well, more cheap laughs to come until I’m completely dead! So we win either way.

Heh. Ah. I am just a regular guy who thinks you do a good job. Keep up the good work man. Also is there a link somewhere to the political comic you were doing?

I don’t understand how “Welcome King of Darkness” is a good aternative to “The End is Nigh” if nothing happens on 6-6-06. Like your work, though; keep it up.

If the end is nigh, it might help to be nigh invulnerable.

Well Drew (assuming you read these), as a college bound student who once was 9, I can tell you two things.
1) I once was fascinated with all of the battles, machines and strategies of war. I was a little fascist who thought that all the world’s problems could be solved with force.
2) Today, I write short stories (along with the occasional one-act play) and am probably going to major in international relations. Needless to say, I’m no longer interested in the military and have taken a somewhat more “nuanced” position on war.
So relax, as long as he’s learning and not just memorizing, he’ll come to the obvious conclusion, e.g. WAR IS HELL.
Sincerely
Michael

Definitly Michael…. Heck, I just bought him some new Army Xbox game he was clamoring over. I can’t help thinking I don’t want my son to go off and join the military and get killed though. It’s just some built-in worry when you’re a parent.
He’s a smart one though… always reading and absorbing information.

I was one of those kids, too…Now I study military history for a living…Still reading and absorbing info just like when I was 9! Great 6/6/06 strip, BTW.
