The Dog House

Quick note– less than 24 hours left on that COVER ART auction…grab it now before it’s too late.

Dog House

Based on nearly, almost accurate events!

I can’t wait for Pearl Jam to cruise by Pittsburgh June 23rd. I have great seats for the show. Their new album is awesome and getting all sorts of good press, and it’s just generally good to see them doing well. I need to learn a few of the new songs on the ukulele, as I’ve heard a few of them were written on Uke– I’m guessing “Severed Hand” and the song “Gone” but I’m not sure.

Issue Four of the Yirmumah print book will be up for pre-sale sometime this week. It’s tricky, because I need a good sunny day and some time here to finalize the cover concept, and I need to work on a bonus story or comic for the issue as well this week. Think Retardakitty.

Life Stuffage
Now that we’re proper land owners here, we’re planning out our summertime activities. So far, we have an 8×12 shed being built, similar to these ones.

And now we’ve found the Tiki Gazebo thingy and we’re thinking about pouring a patio or something and taking our little tiki operation outside for the nice sunny days. I have no idea how to pour a patio. Maybe I should just do some sort of stone patio or brick dealy? I have no clue. Our neighbors are surely going to think we’re crazy, but dammit, I want to be able to chill near a bamboo fire bowl at night with tiki lights and looking like I’m stranded on some island somewhere in the south pacific. We will embibe much rum and enjoy the outdoors. There could even be a ukulele involved in such shenanigans. Actually, my neighbors might be envious of such things– when they walk by and wave, perhaps I will invite them over to the outdoor tiki bar for a nice lemonaide or ice tea? Or perhaps I will just point at them and yell “Suckas!” — Time will tell.

don’t forget…

That is all.

heh heh… my lady’s got deck envy since our neighbors built theirs. no tiki bar though.

and pouring a patio is easy enough - just dig a 4-6 inch deep plot as long and wide as you’re thinking (after you price the concrete, that is), build a 1×6 frame (or 1×8 if it’s a 6 inch deep patio), have the truck guy pour it and tip him real well (usually they’ll even help you finish the floating and such if you drop ‘em a $20).

you should probably check to make sure the area’s clear for digging/heavy concrete placement before you do all that too. i know you’re obligated to call here in MD before you dig anything. not to mention that you could start digging and almost drop a bobcat into a 50 foot deep dry well like i almost did once.

Go for the concrete patio I would say, brick patios break down after a few years.

Howdy! I was surfing the internet Monday afternoon during my break, and found your blog by searching MSN for patios. This is a topic I have great interest in, and follow it closely. I liked your insight on The Dog House, and it made for good reading. Keep up the good work…

Concrete is the best to go with and you can have it stained, and or stamped to match real stone.
