The Day After Christmas, and all through the house…

HARK, YE READERS! Go forth and tell the legendary tale of the day after Christmas and what happens to spoiled little children who act like brats after they get their toys… THE LEGEND OF ANTI-CLAUS…

So, Christmas is still not over here. We remain busy as hell. Company still scheduled to arrive today, still cookies to be eaten, etc.

After much contemplation in my own mind last week, I decided to not pursue legal action against people who libeled me online last week by twisting my words, etc. I deleted all the ranting posts I did about the topic and I’m just DONE with it. All of it and all of them. I have so much POSITIVE stuff happening now that I don’t want to involuntarily attach these turds to the wagon, or have them as a part of my “conversation”. You know? I actually feel sad that that’s how they probably spent the holidays, worrying about Alexa ranking numbers or who’s dick was bigger. They’ll all have to keep their eyes on their own prizes if they want to REALLY succeed in REAL business, because right now they’re pretty much viewed as a joke in the REAL world of comics. That’s something I’ve been trying to battle for a long time. The air of how comic book readers just think online comics are crap or amateur efforts. They are so much more. And it probably doesn’t help when people come into the webcomic world to find that sort of muckraking, jealousy, backstabbing, namecalling, etc…. And not just those guys, I’ve done my part of the negative too, and I’m just done with it. There are BIGGER things to accomplish here with webcomics than our own expendable egos.

A LOT of things and misunderstandings were worked out last week, and I know the people who actually DO matter in my life, have my back. My publisher, my friends, the readers. And WOW– I’ve been getting messages from new people about Hero By Night– some on Drunk Duck saying they saw the big solicitation in the new Previews and they did a web search and landed there and they’re hooked on the comic! I absolutely LOVE hearing the type of message below:

From Doctor Doug: As you have seen from my postings, I love the backstory. Finest storyline I have ever seen - and I was a comic fanatic back in the 70’s, Spiderman was my main but Batman was right behind him. So I feel I am qualified to make that statement. The elements you are mixing together are simply terrific, and I look forward to future episodes.

I’ve heard similar things from longtime readers who had abandoned the Hero genre all together and now HBN is bringing them back. Or at least they are having fun reading it online. That means a lot. I’m really lucky to be doing it, and it’s a lot of fun. Hey, today, HBN teamed up with The Golden Glove.

I do have to say one thing about Drunk Duck. When I first heard Platinum bought them, I was like — HUH?? Big deal, right? I didn’t really get it. But I do have to say, it sure does seem like a POSITIVE place to put your comics. Easily interconnected feedback systems– and from what I’ve heard there are a boat load of new features coming for creators as well. I’ve been on just about every network, and they are really community based. Not just a forum, plenty of sites have those, even me, and they’re fine, but something about Drunk Duck does seem different and open. It’s been a blast to see the level of quality rise there as well. I’ve seen new polished looking things fly in, and I’ve also seen some scratchy comics actually get better over the past month- maybe because more people are looking in from outside the webcomic box? It really is the story of the year according to me in the “webcomics” world. I mean, if you don’t count the big dogs like Kurtz winning the Eisner and Penny Arcade would top it with raising all that money for charity and doing so much good.

Alright—- back to the drawing board for me.
