Strips? Strips? We don’t need to stinking Strips!!?

At some point this week, I’m having a YIRMUMAH SUMMIT, where I decide what the heck I’m doing this 2007 with Yirmumah. We’re in a small break right now, but as I work on other things I’ve been pondering if I should go back to satire work or actually go to the next ORIGIN chapter. I also have a nice set of strips that Wiz Rollins had written up to do at some point, and those will likely come first.

If you’d like to give your valuable input, what would YOU like to see from Yirmumah in 2007?

Something IS coming though. And soon….. I have a hankering. A hankering for a hunk of…. yeah.

Yes, more ORIGIN!!!!!!! Maybe a HBN crossover\spoof?

  2. Splendidisolatn Says:

Do whatever you feel is the best release from HBN — in other words, after 6-8-10-12 hours drawing up HBN, if you feel like satire (and there’s ample out there to satire) then satire. If you feel like going back to origin, go back to origin. Either one works in their own way. It’s up to what you (and Wiz) feel like doing.

  3. Shishio Says:

I like Origin better, but you should do what you feel is best. Don’t worry, we won’t stop reading unless you start to suck.

  4. Jim Says:

I’d like to see more Orgin. That’s just me. At this point, I’m willing to take anything you want to give me (OK, any comic strip you want to give me).

Seriously, I like both choices (satire and Orgin) so whatever you want to do is fine with me, provided it involves getting some material out here.

    Thanks

  5. Matt Says:

I’d like to see more satire, it is what drew me to Yirmumah to begin with. I like the Origin storyline but it gets too serious for me.

  6. wherebethecomics Says:

how bout anything? seriously I check this site for my daily dose of good ol slap tastic humor and theres NOTHING. Give us satire it’ll be faster then origin and the new guy seems to have some good stuff. We saw 2 maybe 3 pieces of his stuff and then …………..nada.

Ive been reading your HBN its ehhh ok, but its not something that makes me go directly to it to read. I only go check out HBN when theres nothing on yirmumah…..I guess thats one way of getting people to read it….. =X

  7. Matt Says:

I have a slight preference for the satire, but it’s all good. (Maybe guys named “Matt” are supposed to prefer satire?)

  8. Brandon J. Carr Says:

You should get that Brandon guy to draw more of Wiz’s comics. Them’s good stuff.

  9. Lewis Says:

I’d like to see more origin dude but to be fair it depends how much time you have these days to plan stuff in advance. I loved the origin but its your comic and whatever turns out I’d still be happy just to see the yirmumah comics

  10. SBinSB Says:

My vote is for satire. I do enjoy the origin stuff, but I thinking the satire would be more condusive to your current project load. You know, because I know you so well and all. :-P

Seriously, make with the funny doodle boy.

  11. Fatmansfreedom Says:

I really want to see Origin wrapped up… but I enjoy the old dick and fart jokes too. I guess that’s how I would like it. But hey I really enjoy reading Hero by Night, so don’t feel like your slacking or anything DJ. Or is this more a matter of just wanting to get back in the sack and loosen up a bit?

  12. gsekse Says:

HBN is a serious side, I think that the Silly should return to Yirmumah. Also, I think that it will be better for you. Do HBN and then kick back and do Silly on the side!

    IM”ever so”HO

  13. Wiz Rollins Says:

I think this “Wiz” guy is the fucking bee’s knees, Fonzie!

  14. DJ Says:

Wiz, you forgot to post under your anonymous name again. ;)

  15. Crapknocker Says:

Oh good god PLEASE do more Origin strips. I really feel like you got to show off your storytelling as well as improving artistic abilities on that strip. I know superhero comics are ‘where it’s at’ as the kids say, but I’ll always have an extra-large soft spot for more personal B&W comics.

Also, I just gotta say I love the panel where the Deacon punches the hell out of Patch. One awesome panel out of many in that series. A close 2nd is the young Deacon saying “I told you so.” to the dead hobo. So hardcore.

    So please, more Origin!

  16. Crazeyal Says:

I think there have been times of misunderstanding when I’ve criticised in the past. Since you are ASKING for input, I’m hoping to make a positive statement that shows my actual fandom.

I think you are growing away from the insults and hooker jokes. As a sufferer of Peter Pan syndrome myself, I don’t think you’ll ever fully “grow up”. Who wants to? But you are getting to the point artistically that you have things you want to “say”… It’s hard to do that and still draw tap dancing asses.

I think you ought to keep doing whatyou are doing right now. Keep the serious stuff for “Origin” and draw whatever else you feel like/get from your partner afterward.

Personally, I’d rather have a hiatus than a burned out author. You get three shades of mean when cornered, that includes deadlines. Put Yirmamah on a once a week schedule until you build an actual buffer, and move onwards and upwards.

  17. grunsho Says:

i’ve been reading all the previous comments and the only rhing i can say is “do what you think is gonna make you keep yirmumah alive”

just like wherebethecomics, i check time by time and there’s nothing… i can’t say i dont like hbn, but i think that if you wanna keep going with yirmumah, you better do something soon…

  18. Dave Says:

    How bout’ a crap load more male nudity ? C’mon , we’re all adults , right ? The Greeks did it….why can’t you , D.j. ? …please ?

  19. bubba Says:

I’d like to see more satire pieces in the near future. That’s what initially drew me in to your sites to begin with. I love the “origin” stuff, and I would love to see more chapters of it in the future. However, I’m having withdrawals on the satirical end right now.

Keep up the good work!! I’m diggin’ the HBN stuff.

  20. Schroddfather Says:

I came to this site for the knock-down, drag-out humor. The “Shampoo fucker” bit is still one of my faves. I can appreciate “Origin” on one level, but it’s not the kind of humor that keeps me coming back here.

I vote more broad humor, more of the Brick and definitely the Cobra. Spak spak!

  21. Grumblin Says:

    Helll…. Choices, choices..

I once started coming here for the insanity and satire, then you started on Origins, which was a complete about-face, but good.

Really, DJ. If you find time to do either here and it Needs To Be Done (artists and their little idiosyncracies… tsk! :P ) I’d be more than happy..

But if ya don’t come up with Baby New Year soon I’m going to blow a casket somewhere.. The year ain’t started until Baby New Year has seen the light.. ;)

  22. Robin Says:

I agree with many of the other commenteers, the satire is what hooked me. Origin is good, I like the flow of the story and the artworks. HBN is… well, I can’t get into it (yet).

I have been looking back at your old stuff, do the satire!!

I was seriously considering un-bookmarking yirmumah as nothing much had happened for ages, which is a shame, as I have a fine collection of your signed pieces and hardcopy comics. I don’t wanna lose a good comic.

So bring back the tap dancing asses, the drama llama and the Cobra!!

    Just my 2 cents worth…

Hell, do what *you* want :)

  23. H Says:

As already said above, the old satire stuff got me into reading this site on a daily basis.

So I’d go with “bring back the satire” …

  24. John Says:

I guess I would prefer the satire. Either would be grand, though!

  25. opsman Says:

MORE ORIGIN! But satire is good too…

  26. Turps Says:

Origin was good but god damn slow. The funny stuff doesn’t get hurt if you can’t do any for a week, whereas everytime something like Origin has to be put on hold it is harder to get back into.

  27. Joker Says:

    wait, DJ still does comics?
