In the immortal words of Douglas Adams, “Don’t Panic.”

  2. Neil Says:

If he was trying to blend in then he coudl atleast have a cup of coffee

Ever tried “stretched coffee”? Just brew a coffee like normal, add some creamer & sugar, take another empty big cup, pour that coffee you’ve brewed into that empty mug, and then pour that coffee back into the first mug, repeat, repeat, repeat until you feel all the mixture in the coffe comes together. Meanwhile, and this is the most important part, while you pour, stretch. Stretch the coffee as high as you can. Take care that you don’t spill.

It’s what we do here in Malaysia. Pouring and stretching to get the mixture of coffee (or tea), sugar and creamer together, creating a potent, frothy brew. If you don’t understand what I mean, click on the links below:

    Try it out yourself.

Btw, there’re annual competitions dedicated to making stretch tea. Stretching coffee or tea isn’t just making one, it’s a performance art, like Evel Knievel

I have an aunt in russia who believes that “stretching” your beverage 12 times will remove inpureties and is extremely healty for you, if it can be poured, she will pour it from vessel to vessel 12 times, rain or shine. But this is also the same aunt that has over the space of 5 years been in about 15 “religions” each one of which involved someone commiting suicide. For teh sake of conversatio lets call them cults.

I remember when people used to just drink regular beverages, because it was about consumption and not dying from dehydration. This is another example of the frivolous nancy-boy culture that spawns like fungus across the world.

  6. GraphicArtist2k5 Says:

“stretching” coffee and tea, huh? Is that the new term for a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME? If I’m thirstin’ for a glass of iced tea, I’m not gonna pour it from one glass into another glass, so on and so forth, that’s abit, how do you say, COMPULSIVE. Jeez, just pour it into a glass, put ice cubes in it, and drink it, how hard is that? Any takers on how hard that is?

  7. GraphicArtist2k5 Says:

Oh, and on a side note, if that’s all that people in Malaysia have time to do, GET A FRICKIN’ HOBBY. Sorry, I HAD to say that.

  8. RGE Says:

And here I thought that stretching was all about cooling the hot beverage down to a temperature suitable for drinking. Shows what I know.

  9. DJ Says:

I thought thats what stretching was for also. Since I do know a tad about the coffee biz— I think i read in a history book that it was developed in Turkish coffee houses A LONG LONG TIME AGO.

I just toss my cream and sugar in , give it a good stir and repeat ALL DAY.

  10. Jeege Says:

Those turks, they know their coffee.

  11. MonkeyToes Says:

In the wild, when you boil water to kill any bacteria, the water takes on a funny taste. Pouring it back and forth, what is now termed stretching, i guess, returns the water to it’s natural state. I don’t know the science behind it, but it works.

I think that stretching coffe and tea would just make it taste better. Time to go experiment….

  12. Eri Says:

I like water. It’s great for that “thirst” thing.

  13. Jesse Says:

yeah… when you boil water the dissolved air is forced out. when you stretch it, it mixes air back in so it doesn’t taste so flat. I don’t know but i guess it does the same thing with the coffee.
