woot! first message. awesome dj, lost references…though I’d figured Bob would’ve been a punk and just used a baseball bat on either you or the computer and said, “oh yeah? that’s how I PUSH a button, foo!” He’s crazy violent like that, especially when that mesothelioma gets to pumping in his veins.
October 7th, 2005 at 3:55 am
But… but… Joe… the Monkey… uh… I…
October 7th, 2005 at 4:20 am
Did you and the guy behind Joe And Monkey decide to make exactly the same joke on the same day?
October 7th, 2005 at 4:27 am
They’re making monkeys out of all of us. We’s the foo’s!:)
October 7th, 2005 at 6:41 am
So…DJ is wearing Fletcher’s shirt from Nothing Nice To Say for some reason (until it turns to the irony one, a joke from NN2S and a shirt from Questionable Content) and is doing a joke that also appeared in Joe And Monkey yet the comic still remains Yirmumah. How come?
This calls for some…PHILOSOPHY!
October 7th, 2005 at 7:15 am
So Bob has been put in the place of a monkey? Is that where most of the philosophy will be centered around?
October 7th, 2005 at 7:30 am
Maybe… Joe and Monkey… copied… Yirmumah… and… I…. I….
October 7th, 2005 at 7:49 am
If not for bittorent it would have taken me half a year to get that joke.
October 7th, 2005 at 8:55 am
I’m lost… what’s all this about? ^_~
October 7th, 2005 at 9:10 am
Its about you. Get it, you are lost.
October 7th, 2005 at 9:16 am
Evan,
ABC is finally — FINALLY — doing the multiple show run for ‘Lost.’ They’re running Wednesday night’s ep on Saturday as well… and it’s a good thing, too, since a thunderstorm fried the power on my block Wednesday night. So… yeah. Excelsior.
October 7th, 2005 at 9:19 am
Hah! That was fantastic. I love that show and your comic is perfect. It’s strips like this that keep me coming back to Yirmumah every freakin’ day.
October 7th, 2005 at 9:52 am
It’s work a little better with an actual visible counter from 108 to 1… but your art is prettier than Joe and Monkey, so I forgive you! (Sorry, Squid.)
October 7th, 2005 at 10:26 am
I won’t be a huge nerd, but the timer isn’t above the computer, it’s up high at the other angle which wouldn’t appear in the strip…..
That’s my excuse!
October 7th, 2005 at 10:30 am
That explains nothing!
October 7th, 2005 at 10:46 am
Exactly!
October 7th, 2005 at 10:53 am
I will get you for this. See if I don’t.
October 7th, 2005 at 10:59 am
This looks so familiar…

I don’t watch Lost so I’m confused. I was hoping DJ was going to fart like a play on the “pull my finger” joke. Oh well.
October 7th, 2005 at 12:07 pm
Not only Joe and Monkey, but The Kenmore comic did it too: http://www.thekenmorecomic.com/
I’m guessing it has SOMETHING to do with Boxcar Comics.
October 7th, 2005 at 1:10 pm
Dude, what’s with the “4 8 15 16 23 42?”
Now I’m REALLY confused, since the same numbers appear on all three sites.
Math hates me.
October 7th, 2005 at 1:24 pm
Those numbers are to do with Lost. They keep making appearances throughout the series and have some kind of relevance. I don’t watch Lost. I had to research this shit myself. Now I am mad.

October 7th, 2005 at 1:54 pm
Damn…I’m glad I started watching that show.. Personally that ‘I can’t do it alone’ crap irritated me. Locke was a prett strong character before and now he’s a big pussy. I hate that. Actually, Jack’s a pussy too for pushing the button.
October 7th, 2005 at 2:17 pm
Who are you kidding? You would have pushed it twice just to make sure it got pushed.
October 7th, 2005 at 2:32 pm
That doesn’t make Jack any less of a pussy. He said it was fake but when it came down to it, he pushed the button. The REAL leap of faith would have been NOT pushing the button…no?
October 7th, 2005 at 2:55 pm
No, that’s in a leap from the Lion’s Head, Sean… or didn’t you get past “Penitent Man?”
October 7th, 2005 at 5:15 pm
Ok. We got that all sorted out. Now why are three web comics all doing the exact same joke?
October 7th, 2005 at 7:50 pm
Dev, i live in nz, so if i didnt download this, it would take me half a year till the episode aired in nz. As for why do 3 strips have the same comic? Well that happens when you unite separate enterprises under one roof, you make cuts in the writing department and the next thing you know you have 10 identical comics aimed at different demographic.
October 7th, 2005 at 9:12 pm
DJ’s actually going to write and draw all the Boxcar comics next week.

Well I find that answer satisfactory.
*goes to sleep*
October 8th, 2005 at 10:21 am
DJ has an excuse, it’s good enough for me!
October 8th, 2005 at 11:38 am
I know that this references lost, but I don’t really get the ‘comedy’ of it.
October 8th, 2005 at 12:53 pm
Funny strip there.
I gotta admit though, most of Lost’s twists have me wondering what’s going to happen next, but this… this was just dumb. Everything Jack said was absolutely true, and in the end, he tossed logic aside and went with, not faith, but fear. Locke, too, while he espouses the virtues of faith constantly, took the easy way out here. The true faith would be in trusting his friend, Jack, when he says that everything’s going to be OK. Instead, he went with the cheap and easy ritual. He’s reverted back to the way he was in the flashbacks, constantly driving to his father’s house and sitting outside, because it was easier than facing the reality that his father hated him.
Though the writers seemed to be trying to make this look like a breakthrough for Locke, it was not. It was a sad, sad reversion.

great strip.
i actually enjoyed the episode too. i think it will work out.
we shall see.

Whoa man — That was like… Deep.

(4) 8 15 16 23 42
4 8 15 16 23 42
4 8 15 16 23 42
4 (8) 15 16 23 42
4 8 (15) (16) 23 42
4 8 15 16 (23) 42
4 8 15 16 23 (42)
count up from the bottom and last 42 (row 7) you get to 4 the alpha,
starting in the same place count up 23 you get 8 repeat this for each number count up from the last 42 16 places you get 15 and so on. the numbers are random by themselves but when repeated the are the pattern, the patern is not in the numbers the numbers are the pattern.
You can also get to 4 from the bottom 42 then start at the top left number 4 and count 8 to get to 8 and from 4 count 15 and you will get 15 and so on..
Once Again the numbers are the pattern the pattern is not in the numbers
look below
(connect 4 remember 6 down 7 across) notice the patern on the way up the sides. There is your answer 7 rows of 6 numbers is 42 and the sum of these numbers is 108 per row.
42 4 8 15 16 23 42
23 42 4 8 15 16 23
16 23 42 4 8 15 16
15 16 23 42 4 8 15
8 4 42 23 16 15 8
4 42 23 16 15 8 4
And Yes there is more, but I dont want to ruin all of your fun. Plenty of clues. As for the french womans equations. well study up on some Trig. Clue Trig applied to mechanical engineering.
To sign this so that I can at least prove to those that know me that this is not where I got the answer but that I am the one who posted it I will say (The Sweet Trade 5816)
Yes there is more but guess what I just wanted to get others to start looking the writers are excellent and pay close attention to detail.
They did not lie when they said the numbers are random they just didn’t tell you the rest. =0)
Enjoy
