Gotta disagree with Blue Eagle's comments. This "turn the other cheek" stuff makes it sound like dissenters should lie down and take it just because the other team is in power.

Maybe that's not what you mean. But that's what it sounds like.

I'm all for rational discourse, but frankly - the conservative right started things off on the wrong foot with their whole "if you're not with us, you're anti-American" agenda.

Complaining about a government that I feel does not represent my wants or needs is more American than anything I can think of. I already know what my action will be in terms of real, positive, and constructive change in the world. I'll start by not voting Republican and encouraging others to do the same.

This is why I'm an avowed anarchist. Those who can't govern themselves in a civil and upright manner should be left to the wolves.

First time voting, I voted for Pat Buchanan 'cause at least the man's fairly upfront about being a total fascist - unlike those who ran against him for whom "ideals" are things that make a cartoon lightbulb go off above your bloody head. In the last two elections I've written in for Superman and Stephen King respectively.

Where are you Superman? Why have you forsaken us?

Can you imagine if Stephen King were president? What if he took Clive Barker as his VP? Or if he took M. Night Shamalamadingdong as his VP, and - in a shocking twist - had him strung up so there'd be no more movies like "The Village." I'd live in that USA... even if it was significantly creepier.

"A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand"

Abraham Lincoln

June 1858

Patience, people. You reap what you sow, and the Bush Administration will get their just desserts soon enough. Things will sort themselves out. This too shall pass.

All this hatred and bickering between those who identify themselves as being conservitive or liberal or republican or democrat isnt going to help anything.
All the arguing you between the two sides amounts to
people on both sides being frustrated at the way things are, and needing enemies to vent their anger at.

If we continue along this path of ignorance and arrogance, of lack of understanding and compromise, there will be civil unrest, and eventully
the end of the United States.

So calm down, and try to understand the other sides point of view, and do what you to bring about a real, positive, and constructive change in the world.
This senseless anger will get you nowhere at best.

Hello mr dj. The thing about oil companies posting record profits is this. They operate on a markup, so say the markup is 30% and you buy petrol for 100 units you will be paying 30 units into the coffers. So the prices were not raised intentionally but because markups are not adjusted to price (that would be stupid) they make more money for selling the same amount of petrol. Its pretty standard business process.

If you really want to fuck up some fucks and hit them where it hurts(in the fucker) then cut down consumption, considering that you work from home its not a problem i guess but yeah keep it in mind.

I watched the state of the union address on the bbc stream. Its amazing to see such a large group of supposedly intelligent people giving each other the proverbial reach around for such a long time.

What is also amazing is how little the government has to disguise their rues to fool the nation.

I think all of the world should get to vote in American elections seeing as the outcome effects the entire world. Quite sad. Alternatively would be nice if Americans "goverment" would obide by international laws.

What's hilarious is that the main focus of Bush's speech was to find alternatives to oil. Not the war in Iraq. That's old news.

Nice bit of misdirection, Bushie.

Would his right-wing supporters really go for alternative fuel sources like E-85 or solar powered cars? Please!

Looks like wearing an anti-war t-shirt to Bush's bully pulpit is protesting and therefore a misdemeanor:

She should have gone with your idea, Drew.
