Sleep when you’re dead…
It’s a pretty good feeling to stay up and work all night. The only sucky part is the alarm going off three hours after your head hit the pillow. I karate chopped it.
Anyway, it’s good to be a doer and not a talker. Too many sad, pathetic talkers out there. They can never really walk the walk, you know?
I think about advice I’d been given over the years. I have a few people asking me to write columns about cartooning or publishing or online publishing stuff– but One of the best little pieces of advice was from writer James Patrick, who said, “if you can DO, never DO ABOUT.” - I’ve been tempted. It’s fun to share what’s worked for me with other creators. Of course what works for me won’t work for everyone, and things I’ve failed at work for others too. But it’s cool to talk shop and encourage others. Or warn them of scumbags out there. People burning bridges they didn’t know they’d ever cross. It’s funny.
I’m off to hunt down a sketchbook for the trip to Los Angeles this weekend before the sandman catches up with me.
