SHARKTASTIC!!! — What a strange week. I did 4 days worth of comics pretty much about Drew having a hemorrhoid.
I was kinda shocked to see SHARK LIVER OIL as an ingredient in that though. WOW. I mean, I shouldn’t be shocked, they use all sorts of animal parts for medical stuff, I know that…. but when you see it listed as an ingredient, it’s still a little freaky!
So I decided to search the wonderful web and answer Drew’s question… here’s the wikipedia entry on it:
Shark liver oil is obtained from sharks caught for food purposes only, living in cold, deep oceans. The liver oil from sharks has been used by fishermen for centuries as a folk remedy for general debility, for healing wounds, sores, irritations of the respiratory tract and the alimentary canal and for lymph node swelling.
Shark liver oil is rich in alkylglycerols, which are naturally found in mother’s milk and in bone marrow. It also contains pristane, squalene, vitamins A and D, omega-3 fatty acids, triglycerides, glycerol ethers, and fatty alcohols.
Ok. I have a new favorite word now thanks to that… it is FATTY ALCOHOLS.
Anyway— FISHERMEN eh??? AH-HA!!!! WAIT A MINUTE…. I warned all of you… NEVER TRUST THE GORTON’S FISHERMAN. See that last panel there?? YEAH. I knew he was up to no good!
Hey, I’m gonna go and draw some kick butt comic book stuff now. Working with Platinum Studios has been a great pleasure and actually, dare I say it? FUN. It’s fun to work on a full on HERO sort of book— but this one has a nice twist. I really wish I could say more, but you’ll have to wait a little bit. Will you have to wait completely until MARCH 2007? Actually, something is coming a little sooner than that, keep your eyes peeled here.

Oh , how you have saddened me young Edward . A mere sharks’ life forfeited so that the nether regions of the very man who creates this strip may be supple and pain free . And YOU would find injustice within the context of that which ultimately frees us all of our daily drivel by laughing and laughing until near the point of passing out cold on the cold linoleum floor ?
