I’m going back and changing “crack whore” to “meth whore” because the club members have decided such. The tribe has spoken, so on and so forth.

Same news as the other day… I’m busy busy busy working on HERO BY NIGHT, (soon to be a major motion picture!) — I have the first issue halfway done with inking, and it’s looking crisp. (I was kidding about the major motion picture insert) — Speaking of inking, it’s been a blast inking on the Cintiq monitor. (or WAS I?) To me, it’s TRUE digital inking. As in, like, I know the term usually means to do line curves in Illustrator or vector programs, or to just take your pencils and darkening them with levels and curves…. but THIS…. this is truly inking. I take full scans of the pencils, pop a layer over them and do full on inks right over them. It’s honestly like some sort of SUPER drawing board. I mean, it’s a damn drawing board that actually allows me to speak with the creative team as I’m working. THE FUTURE, CONAN??? (hey, a boy can dream, right?)

Actually, today’s Yirmumah was the FIRST Yirm fully drawn right on the screen, pencils, inks, coloring. I think I was able to knock the whole thing out in 2 and half hours. (of course it helps having a script all written!) - I’m getting much more comfortable with it, I don’t really have time to do fun sketching right now, but I could totally see myself going paperless once I get use to the process. I was a little worried at such a cost for that Cintiq, but it’s probably one of the best tools I’ve invested in, and if you’re a working cartoonist, it’s a hell of a nice tax writeoff!

The new house stuff is coming along well. Everything but the kitchen is painted. It kinda feels like we might be ready to move in, even though there’s no shower installed, I think I could deal with that for a while…. When I go over there with so much space and it all seems new, then I come back to this little cottage and I grumble all night. I guess I’ll have to call the cable people and have them get internet on over there and just do some smooth transition. My wife is thinking Dec 6-7 we’ll be moving a bunch of stuff over, I don’t know about US though yet. It would be very cool to have the FIRST day like Christmas and have the kids wake up and come down to the presents in the new house.

What a crazy year.
