NOT MADE IN CHINA…

I’m proud to offer the first issue of YIRMUMAH MONTHLY. — It’s on sale direct from me, to you by design. I’m also going to draw on the inside of each and every cover. The first issue includes not only the all of January’s strips in full color, but also a bonus story, “The Truth about Toothpaste”.

When I say direct from me, by design, that means I choose openly to not use a national distributor like Diamond. And many of you reading this have no idea what the “Direct Comic Book Market” even is… basically, it’s comics put out by publishers through Diamond and into Specialty comic book stores. I’ve used them before and been involved with other publishers and projects who’ve used them. I just see no purpose in a system for independents where you have to push for preorders, and the readers who do buy have to then wait about 2 months before what they ordered gets to their store. That’s even if an independent publisher can meet Diamond’s “benchmark” figures, (that have recently been raised)– It would be a great let down to readers who ordered a book to have Diamond cancel a book because it only sold 500 issues. And that happens a lot. Meditating about these problems, it became more and more clear, that the Direct Market system is still acting like it’s 1986 when it’s 2006.

And that’s what this is all about. Utilizing all the technology and delivery capibilities that 2006 offers us. A little bit about the process here…. When a new book goes on sale (usually the first week of the month), it’s already at the printer being prepped, proofed and printed for me. They’re delivered within 2 weeks of an order being placed while I collect orders and prepare the packaging. When the books arrive, I crack them open, draw something inside the front cover- (possibly something custom for you if I know you well enough) , then the book is placed in a comic bag and backboard, it’s shipping envelope, then mailed out directly to you. That simple. — As time goes on and I build up past issues, those get shipped even faster, either that week or the very next day. This process allows each book to be a unique item from me to you by cutting out as many middlemen as possible.

I’m also keeping the price as low as possible… for only 4 bucks total, you get a book right in your mailbox in the US and Canada, and for .75cents more for our friends overseas worldwide.
