Neil Young: Let’s Impeach The President Lyrics

Neil Young’s lyrics to “Let’s Impeach the President”

Let’s impeach the president for lying

And leading our country into war

Abusing all the power that we gave him

And shipping all our money out the door

He’s the man who hired all the criminals

The White House shadows who hide behind closed doors

And bend the facts to fit with their new stories

Of why we have to send our men to war

Let’s impeach the president for spying

On citizens inside their own homes

Breaking every law in the country

By tapping our computers and telephones

What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees

Would New Orleans have been safer that way

Sheltered by our government’s protection

Or was someone just not home that day?

Let’s impeach the president

For hijacking our religion and using it to get elected

Dividing our country into colors

And still leaving black people neglected

Thank god he’s racking down on steroids

Since he sold his old baseball team

There’s lot of people looking at big trouble

But of course the president is clean

Thank God
________________________________________________________

Whew. Maybe he’ll get more people saying it now? The part that puzzled me is the mention of the baseball team thing? I don’t get it. Neil Young has done a great job here of actually voicing things that millions of Americans are saying, and some of which they’re afraid to say publically. It’s a shame that the media and White House spin machine is probably going to come down on him like a ton of bricks, but I’m sure he can take it. I imagine them laughing him off, and that sort of bugs me. I’m not sure why.

  1. splendidisolatn Says:

bush used to be a part owner of the texas rangers, hence the baseball

  2. DJ Says:

yeah, but it was just weird how the steroid thing and him owning a baseball team has anything to do with the politics of impeaching him? It seemed a little out of place.

  3. Joel Says:

it’s in there because it’s far too difficult to rhyme words like “Billions in profits” and “Bechtel, Chevron, Exxon, Halliburton” etc. Oh, and not vetoing any bills ever, but issuing signing statements on nearly all of them. It’s hard work, people! Neil Young is just a man, not some sort of song-writing machine-god!

  4. Tinkerjeep Says:

Neil young will get stepped on by the media and the president will be supported by the media? What? The media hates Bush!

I didn’t know Bush was responsible for Hurricane Katrina? He started that whole thing? Damn…he IS powerful. We better vote him in for a 3rd term or we’ll all get our asses hurricaned!!!

And Neil Young practices the same religeon as “W”? Which one is that - the one that gives you power over hurricanes? TeeHee!

Old age, E.D., A.D.D., Botox, global warming, hemerhoids, hangnails and high cholesterol are all “W”s fault! Oh shit, did I say that out loud? I’m screwed, he’s gonna hurricane me!

  5. Mako Says:

Its late. I know that my mental peak is far from 3 in the morning; plus as an engineering major, finding symbolic meaning isn’t what I’m best at. But I just can’t quite make the mental connection between:

“What if Al Qaeda blew up the levees
Would New Orleans have been safer that way”

    and

“…Bush was responsible for Hurricane Katrina”

Now, either Tinker was joking, and I’m just too damn tired to pick up on it. Or, I’ve just witnessed another case of someone failing to find the logical fallacies in someone’s argument, then relying on the defence mechanism of forcing the logical fallacies into the said argument.

  6. Jack Says:

The main problem I have with the whole Katrina thing, is that rarely is there any blame leveled at the state and local level, which is just as responsible for the situation as the federal government. They are all accountable.

As for the black people part: Bush is not a racist, he’s a classist. There’s a very big difference.

When it comes to impeachment: Go ahead, it sure as hell can’t fuck anything up worse that it already is.

  7. DJ Says:

Well, there ARE people who believe in weather control. Maybe he’s been warned about that too?

  8. TlalocW Says:

The baseball/steroid thing. During either this year’s or last year’s state of the union address, Bush specifically listed steroids in baseball as one of the biggest problems we face as a nation.

As for Katrina, the administration had plenty of warning about the hurricane, and FEMA is now under Homeland Security. The whole slow response of the new agency that was created in the aftermath of 9/11 got some of us wondering about the lousy deal we got - a new government entity that’s everyone says is going to protect us in exchange for our civil liberties.

    TlalocW

  9. Tinkerjeep Says:

Of course Bush caused the Hurricane! Every half-witted, pot-smokin’ Neil Young worshippin’ hippy activist knows “W” is responsible for everything I mentioned including black slavery, kiddie porn, the AIDS virus, and child-proof med caps. Get on the magic bus, man and we can all lay back in the purple haze and finger point at the rich asshole who dodged the draft…unlike Clinton, and Kerry…oh wait…kerry was a war hero…but then he was war criminal, and then he threw away his medals…but he didn’t really throw them, he threw someone elses, but wanted to look like he was throwing his medals…but he really is a war criminal, er, hero……yeah.

“AS for Katrina, the ADMINISTRATION had plenty of warning…” unhunh, what about the residents, news media, public warning folk, etc….”what did they know, and when did they know it?”- to rip off a well known statement from a well worn politician.

  10. Tinkerjeep Says:

Here’s a fun excersize, replace the words “president” or Bush” in the neil young song with “Roosevelt, Kennedy, or Johnson” and see what happens.

  11. ian Says:

yeah, everyone had warning, whatever. the point is the response, or lack thereof. I’m from florida, and have lived here all my live, most of it in S. Fla. I’ve seen more than my fair share of hurricanes, and i’ve seen the response afterwards, from local, state, and federal agencies. The feds had sorted fema out after hugo and andrew. In addition to natural disasters, they even dealt with the oklahoma city bombing. why couldn’t they respond to katrina? simple answer: Dept. of Homeland Security. shoving an already smoothly running agency in with 21 others and then staffing it with all your cronies and other assorted non-experienced associates under the guise of protecting the nation. Almost every rep. from typical hurricane states fought against it, because they knew that this was the eventual end result: a break down in terms of natural disaster response because DHS is batshit about terrorist attacks.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/03/AR2005090301653_pf.html

if it’s too heavy on multisyllabic words that don’t spell out your particular brand of political rhetoric, tinker, you can scroll down to the bottom and read about how royally FEMA fucked up and completely botched the response, turning down aid from the military, and other states as well. you’d think with jeb for a brother, shit like this wouldn’t happen. but, to rip off a favorite movie of mine, “never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.”

  12. DJ Says:

The buck doesnt seem to stop anywhere with this administration, that’s for sure.

I feel like the high gas prices are just a HUGE straw man they whip out whenever there is some serious criticism of the administration– then BAM, prices go down and Bush is a hero to the working class? Nah, that’s not going to fly this time around.

  13. BigmanAK Says:

Hiya. Just started reading not that long ago. Good stuff.

But on the issue of Neil Young…

Fun fact: Neil Young was one of the most outspoken advocates of the Patriot Act when it initially hit legislation. Song’s still relevant. But he’s the last man who should be singing it.

That said: If Reagan was the “teflon president”, what does that make Bush? The “No-One-Gives-A-Shit-To-Investigate President”?

  14. Tinkerjeep Says:

Why should I read any thing anybody says…you guys don’t listen to my sources, so I’m not gonna listen to yours.

All you can do is sit there and blame and bitch and moan, Why not try producing someone who will solve a problem instead of just bitching and blaming and maybe you’d have a chance at the whitehouse again. I voted for “W” and I think its time for a change…but I haven’t seen anyone in a suit in the last 20 years that would be any better. Step up - bring credentials.

  15. Tinkerjeep Says:

Hey, Even better- Why dont you guys crying about how government beuracracy is so stupid and ineffectictive, run for office and cut government programs, power, and funding? But I know that won’t happen because you’re so conditioned into voting for politicians that want bigger government controls that you can’t possibly go against your programming.

But now you see that the government has more control over YOUR liberty and YOUR choices and you bitch about it! Great armchair quarterbacking…but then we come to expect that from you. Don’t go changing now. You couldn’t if you tried.

  16. DJ Says:

Wow Tinkerjeep, you sure are drinking the Bush Kool-aid! Hahahhaa

  17. Coyoty Says:

The buck stops. And stands staring in the headlights.

  18. Tinkerjeep Says:

Well, so far you haven’t surprised me with any new ideas guys:

“Liberal playbook on how to win every argument:

    1) Bitch about Conservatives and their aweful ideals/methods.

    2) Personally insult anyone who doesn’t agree. -stall.

    3) Joke when someone pushes the argument and wants a real answer.- stall.

    4) Accuse your counterpart of doing what you are actually doing. - stall.

    5) Bitch that you are being attacked by your counterpart and that you have the right to speak your mind…but do not ever apply the same standard to them. -stall.

    6) repeat ad nauseum. -stall.

The conservative cannot argue with you since you have no basis in logic which he can attack and destroy with reason. He will go nuts and try to strangle you…that’s where the cops and our lawyers will get ahold of him.”

Yeah, we got a few more stages to go before you have reproven yourselves to be the robots you are. So I’ll restate the questions-

    1) what would you do better than the current “administration”, instead of just bitching…What would you actually do?

    2) Why is big government bad now that its not controlled by you?

Any real answers out there? I’ll wait patiently for your logical replies. But feel free to make all the personal attacks you want, I’ll try to dismiss them and stick to the subject, carry on.

  19. DJ Says:

You need to lighten up a bit dude, or you’re headed for a fast heart attack or stroke.

Listen, you’re really broadstroking with your comments the “you” and “yourselves”

Maybe you’ve had TOO much of the Kool-aid? Try water.

  20. Tinkerjeep Says:

Okay,DJ, so there’s point 2, 3, and 4. out of the playbook - good, good.

Any real answers? Any ? At all?

    Still waiting….

  21. DJ Says:

Maybe the point is, folks should own up and take responsibility for their actions in government. I mean, you can’t honestly say that Bush isn’t a complete fuck up, can you? It’s been my experience that usually people don’t want to admit when their “guy” fucked up. And Bush has been one fuck up after another, plain and simple, and factual.

  22. Tinkerjeep Says:

    Okay, point 6 there, DJ.

Repeating the personal attacks again…BORING! I’ve heard it allready.

Your better ideas of handling things are what, exactly?

…still waiting for a good answer.

    Any takers?

If the answers don’t start coming I’ll just revert back to outrageous sarcasm and aping your silly rants. You like to laugh, right? Even at yourselves?

  23. DJ Says:

It’s not my job to come up with better plans, but as a tax paying citizen it’s my duty to speak out when something doesn’t smell right. Went to war in Iraq for nothing, chief. All built on LIES. Lies that Bush and his cronies fed to the public. Right about now, that’s my only beef with our god damn government, because every other problem we’re having is stemming from that.

Now, as an honest straight talking human being, It’s my duty to inform you that YOU sir, are the one who can’t see past the propaganda, have drinken the kool-aid, and will never change his mind or admit that “his guy” fucked up.

Plus, in general, you’re coming off like an asshole. Congrats!

  24. Scooter Says:

What “lies” exactly, does everything that is wrong with our current administration stem from? The lies all of the US Senate and Congress and virtually all forign governments and the UN agreed were a problem– WMDs in the hands of a madman? Please define “lie”. To state (and act) on incorrect information (that everyone agreed/believed was credible) is not the definition of a lie. Seems to me. So, what is the problem? Could it be there are just a lot of Bush Haters out there that are still grousing about the 2000 election and will use any excuse to bash the Hated One?
    Just wondering.

  25. DJ Says:

Are you blind or just not reading the news much? “Lies” being, Bush knew that there were no weapons of mass destruction there. His own people told him that, and what was it, Joe Wilson went to investigate the “yellow cake” deal, and instead, they just covered that all up and leaked his wife’s name to the press. Bush damn well knew he was the leaker in chief, but still said “If I find out who the leaker is, we’ll take care of them.” — then “There’s too much leaking in washington” but wow, look how that turned out? OH! But I guess it’s not leaking when the president does it.

I guess it’s not assisiting in murder when he does it either. You know, sending our kids off to a no good war. Shouldnt we have been tracking down the people truly responsible for 911, who are STILL running amuck and releasing more videos then Britney Spears in her prime? Someone needs to own the fuck up– that’s all.

  26. Tinkerjeep Says:

    Okay, so, points 2, 4 , 5…and 6, DJ - Cool.

So, any one ELSE? Okay…you asked for it. I’m calling the “argument” off. I can’t find any logic in this liberal’s statements, just the same old hate and discontent.

My opinion, seriously- I allready said I thought it was time for a change but no one else running coulda handled it better, in my opinion.
Bush screwed up? Okay, sure. He screwed up - He’s human. Me too. I screw up at least once a day just to remind myself I’m not God…try it.
Bush Lied? I don’t know about that, maybe, very well could have but I’m more of a “give the benefit of the doubt” kind of guy untill a trend developes. I do know there was an aweful lot of documented and confessed forgery of data from the liberal media slamming Bush around election time. And I do know Kerry lied. Its in his own words.
Are we over there In Iraq for nothing? Ask some of the troops that have been there and seen the good we are doing.
Do I think its high time we pulled out and let the Iraqis walk on their own legs? Yup. We’ve been training this baby to walk for what - two years now? My kids were walking at 10 months - and they didn’t have the Marines, the Army, the Airforce and millions of dollars in aid to help them.
Is the federal government too big and ponderous…yup, been that way since Roosevelt. Gotten worse since Carter. Really bad since terrorists flew friggin’ airplanes into the world trade center and the Pentagon and we found out they got the flight training here and that they had been here on student visas! AND we had so many inter-intelligence-agencies “incomunicado” orders enforced by the previous admin that we had no idea about what was going to happen despite having the data right there!!! Unification and coopereation is a good idea, but it does have some flaws , some risks and some teething problems. Every new situation will be a learning experience untill they get the hang of it.
Is it all really necessary. I can’t honestly say for sure, but my independant gut feeling says - “Hell no! Let’s shut the borders, export the undocumented illegals, demand retributuion, in the form of oil, from Mexico for encouraging the influx of these scoff-laws, watch each other closely and report anything suspicious to the local authorities. Just gimme some 10×50 Bushnells, a G3, 1911a1, and a M-590 (look ‘em up) and I’ll protect my own family from any scum who want to blow us up. ARM THE PUBLIC!!!!” I know, I know- Too extreme for you gun-haters…unfortunately, force and therefore arms and bravery needs to be employed by somebody. Honestly, because the terrorists aren’t gonna stroll down Mainstreet, USA with a dirty bomb in their drawers, see local ordinace 14.2.5.099 posted on a sign which “Prohibits the unauthorized detonation of non-permitted high explosive devices within city limits” and turn to each other and say “Aw shucks, Habib, it says here we can’t go boom.” “Well, Tariq, lets go home, crack open a brew and watch ‘Idol.”

You wanted my input…I’m such a koolaid guzzlin’ fool, am I? I’d just swear Bush was right as rain, wouldn’t I? No, I think he’s made plenty of mistakes, and I don’t really like DHS…T. Jefferson (I think - but maybe this my my daily mistake) said “Those who trade liberty for security deserve neither”. But that’s where we’re at as a nation…you gonna secure yourself? No? How many of your Bush-hating buddies are gonna stand up for themselves?

And I drink no one’s koolaid (what’s with the Jim Jones reference anyway…isn’t that supposed to be a slam at organized religeon?)

So, I just proved by your own statements that you are programmed to “bitch and stall” but where is your substantive argument? Where are your ideas for dealing with the events that have happened in our country since January 2000?

A wiser man than myself once said something like “The one who asks the most intelligent questions will eventually win the argument.” I want to know what you would do differently than the “administration”. Where are all the good ideas?

  27. Tinkerjeep Says:

Scooter, you be wasting your time, trying to reason with one such as this. I tried…see where it got me? I’m going back to posting “ITS ALL BUSHES FAULT” stuff, feel free to join me…two heads are better than one- Here I’ll get us started again -

“Impeach Bush! He’s responsible for premature gray hair, wet farts, Doritos bags being only half full, flat beer, small breasts and the extinction of the dodo!!!!!

  28. DJ Says:

Ok, obviously you don’t know my politics– I’d only warn you not to be so “black and white” or “red and blue” on things. Heck, when the president said today he thought that the national anthem should be sung in english, I agreed. I mean, you’re leaning so far right, you’re tripping on yourself.

Anyway, it’s pointless arguing with you or typing up “plans” for how things can be different here. I’d say first things first, yes, impeach bush, that would be a great start.

  29. Tinkerjeep Says:

Yeah, We need to ban bush….I mean Bush. He was behind the rise of the 3rd Reich, the holocaust, and had J.F.K., M.L.K. Jr, And John Lennon murdered. He also uses his brain-washed servant, Rush Limbaugh to spread his evil purposes through out the galaxy on the largest talk radio broadcast network in the universe. The “administration is all a conspiracy, a straw man…Cheney is just a fallguy. He was set up to take the fall so Bush would never get taken down. the Skull and Bones are really a cover for a coven of vampires that run things behind the scenes and “W” is actually Dracula…the head of the coven…and the son of the devil. Whew. I hope he’s not using his evil vampire mind powers to read my mind…He’ll hunt me down and and…and…HURRICANE ME!!!!!

  30. Tinkerjeep Says:

I hope that’s plenty of material for a good strip. There ought to be enough to hang us idjit redneck koolaid drinkers who drive around in trucker caps in our pickups with our gun racks, killing furry animals with our AK-47s. We also watch Nascar in our underwear with one hand in our pants and the other wrapped around a Bud light. And we all think Bush is right ALL THE TIME!!!

As long as we are all accurately portrayed here, my job is done. Bye, all, its been fun…I got lotsa laughs out of this-

“Neil Young - Prophet Of The Ages!” (snigger! smirk!) He and Cheryl Crow ought to do an album together…”The Young - Crow Protest Tour Album…Live!- now with even more hate and discontent…performed before a teeming mob of estrogen filled 20-30 year old crybabies!” It would be fabulous…MTV wouldn’t play it though…it wouldn’t get any sponsors.

And as funny as reality is, (or could be) the strip is still funny.

  31. BigmanAK Says:

Okay, this is kinda of a moot argument Tink.

    Let’s start from the top.

“My opinion, seriously- I allready said I thought it was time for a change but no one else running coulda handled it better, in my opinion.”

I actually voted for Bush in the first election. Then September 11th hit, and he landed like a six ton weight of jackbooted shit on the American consciousness.

I hated Gore’s environmental stance at the time, living in a pro-development state… But someone with some actual foreign policy experience in this case would likely have minimized the hit on our international standing, which we’re going to be feeling for the next 10-15 years at a minimum. Bush’s unilateral actions has basically left us with no leg to stand on within the international scene, and in reality leaves us WEAKER overall to wage any sort of war on terror.

“Do I think its high time we pulled out and let the Iraqis walk on their own legs? Yup. We’ve been training this baby to walk for what - two years now? My kids were walking at 10 months - and they didn’t have the Marines, the Army, the Airforce and millions of dollars in aid to help them.”

Yeah… Because kids and burgeoning democracies in a land historically known for oppressive regimes are a great comparison.

This basically ignores the main reason for staying in Iraq. At this point, we’re locked into nation building. If we leave, we end up with a rogue state that’s going to harbor terrorists and provide a fertile breeding ground for them. The Bush administration fucked up in filtering the intelligence to land us in this war, and now our men and women in uniform get to pay the penalty for it.

Again: If we leave, we’re boned. If we fix the mess… Well, we’ve still pissed off 3/4 of the Arab world. But we’ll hopefully gain a democracy in the Middle East, and hopefully one that won’t be as apt to start wars with its neighbors. If this is the price of a more stable Middle East, and one that will be a partner for stable economic/energy status, then we’re locked in for the long haul.

I think we had another war where we pulled out under the premise of “letting them fight their own fight”… Who was that? Oh yeah. VIETNAM. The exit strategy cometh, and the United States again looks like a group of idiot children for not being able to protect democracy. Except this time, we’re TRULY fucked if we leave Iraq as a mess.

The only way we’re getting out is by working with the Iraqis, and rebuilding enough infrastructure for the govenrment to maintain and take credit for on their own. Once this happens, you’ll see more Iraqis ready to fight and die for democracy.

“AND we had so many inter-intelligence-agencies “incomunicado” orders enforced by the previous admin that we had no idea about what was going to happen despite having the data right there!!!”

Interagency non-cooperation is old news, man. And contrary to conservative opinion, it didn’t get any worse under the Clinton administration. It’s a continuation of a flawed system that promotes Balkanization and infighting within the system. If anything, Clinton expanded powers for law enforcement and intel under his watch, particularly concerning the punishment of terrorism. The Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996 was basically a softened version of what Clinton wanted enacted. Want to turn it partisan? Your REPUBLICAN CONGRESS softened it up, calling it the worst attack on civil liberties that they’d ever seen… Thus, expanded police authority for surveilance of suspected terrorists was scratched out. Even so, the law made it a crime for either individuals or groups (Citizens or not) to provide money or material support to groups designated as terrorist groups by the Sec. of State. It even established a new court to handle deportation of aliens suspected of terrorism while protecting classified information.

You want someone who played havoc with the intelligence community? Try Kennedy, Nixon, and ESPECIALLY Reagan.

I have a hard time with people bashing administrations along party lines, especially when they won’t back it up. You’re right on one count: Everyone makes mistakes. But let’s work under the ideal that the idiots in charge be held accountable for screwing the pooch, eh? Let’s move on…

So now we get to the ideas. That’s what you wanted, right?

    1. Complete the War in Iraq. Ever heard of the Weinberger Doctrine? It went something like this… The United States should not engage in a conflict overseas without the following criteria met: (1) long-term public and congressional support, (2) clearly defined political and military objectives, and (3) a clear intention of winning.

I’d say that both 1, 2, AND 3 were lacking until the new 2006 National Defense Strategy came out.

Rebuild the infrastructure of Iraq on an open and honest basis, avoiding the closed-bid and corruption pitfalls in the current system. If the Iraqis don’t want to protect this new government initially by joining their new military, fine. We stay for a while longer, and make sure that terrorists don’t take control of the country. Anyone who feels we’re getting out in the next year is living in a fucking dreamworld. It’s a big mess, and it’s going to take a more accountable government to clean it up. With a regime change in the government (2006 elections should be interesting), we can hopefully begin charting a course to this, via the legislative branch putting a freaking leash on the Bush administration.

    2. Accountability, accountability, accountability. The current Congress has a love of tacking riders onto bills for pork appropriations, my senior senator among them (Sen. Stevens, Alaska. Bridge to Nowhere, anyone?). The current leadership encourages this, and it must end in order to re-establish the public trust. This administration has a desperate need to ignore problems at home, and Congress turns a blind eye and follows along. It’s time to shake up the power base, and this is your opportunity to do so: Check into your rep’s voting record; if he’s a douchebag, vote for the other guy (I think yours is Santorum, right DJ?). Encourage others to do the same.

The biggest problem we’ve got right now is a executive and legislative branch that’s been rampaging over civil liberties both at home and abroad, all in the misguided name of “security”. It’s time to reign them in, and demand some freaking testicles on a platter. (Leading to the question: If a Colorado senator is castrated, are they Rocky Mountain Oysters? Ba dum pish!)

    3. Partisan politics must fucking DIE. It allows large groups of people to gain control of a government, and grow complacent to corruption. Kinda like a tick feeding on blood. We’ve seen this with Democrat and Republican regimes, so again, arguing one side over the other is a circle jerk. I live in a state where oil wealth is the primary motivator for politicians, and the public opinion is finally starting to swing away from greedbag morons on both sides. Get active in your communities, and do the same. Only through true bipartisan cooperation will anything get accomplished on the Hill, and that’s gonna require some commitment to compromises on both sides.

So there you have it. In a nutshell.

  32. BigmanAK Says:

Y’know, in retrospect: I hope I didn’t just become the biggest feeder of a webcomic troll in history. That’d make me sad. :(

  33. Tinkerjeep Says:

Okay…you have way too much there for me to respond to, but obviously we disagree on alot of things…on the surface it seems this way…If we had hours of sitting down time, face to face and could go over every topic you and I have raised and every “fact” that we can lay our hands on, I don’t think we’d be that far off.

You said…”in a nutshell”. That’s pretty damn big nutshell. I’ll try to keep my stuff a bit briefer:

I’m tired of hearing that our liberties are being trampled…this is true to a certain extent…but I think unless you, me and every other law-abiding citizen out there decides to take back our country and make it the thing it started out to become 230 years ago and actually stand on our own feet and do what needs to be done, the grousing about civil liberty erosion is pointles pissing in the wind. Can we take back our nation from the buraucracies…don’t even whisper that…DHS will probably tag you as a terrorist. Sad but true. Having said that- There are allways trade- offs.

The “administration” is damned whether HE trys to do things one way or the other. Are we goinfg to impeach a guy for believing the same intelligence that the rest of the free world believed? Fine, then recall or impeach the leaders of Britain, and 20 other countries.

No WMDS? okay we know he DID have them, Even France, Germany and Russia knew that…Even Kennedy…ALL OF CONGRESS! and most of the UN was duped by Bush’s filtered info? Okay- considering the information came from three previous administration’s intelligence gathering over 2 decades, how is it “W” bares the brunt of all evil or disinformation in this case. But okay- again- no WMDs in Iraq? but then you got the creeps out there screaming WE sold Hussein WMDS in the 1970s in the IRAN-IRAQ war! If we sold it to him, then he fucking had it, didn’t he? But lets impeach Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan since they were the sitting Presidents when this was going on.

And we DID have a solid backing and a solid determination to fight and win this war at the onset. - Track down Osama and the rest of the terrorists and bring them to justice or Allah. We have linked Hussein and Al Queda…they did use Iraq as a staging/training area. They are there now fighting their own people and our troops.

I stand by my analogy of the newborn democracy in Iraq as a newborn child. each one should get stronger and stronger as the days go by. There will allways be set backs but a time comes when both must stand on their own two feet and stumble, ever improving in balance and strength, towards their goal of independance of others, and self-determination. Does it make sense, that way? I think as much infrastructure as we’ve been building over there and as much help as we’ve been giving, its time to let them take a larger roll in their own destiny. I’m not saying just flat pull out, but its high time the baby was walking. The insurgents are few and nothing like any war we fought in the first half of the 20th century…We’ve lost how many troops? over 2 thousand boys and girls? How many did we lose on Omaha Beach in Normandy in one day in 1944?
NOT THE SAME! NO, but half of congress wasn’t shouting to impeach the president for that.

This IS like vietnam in two ways…the chickenshit liberal politicians want limits on the force used to kill the M.F.-ing badguys and they are badmouthing everything done in the war effort on the news, which portrays mostly negative stuff just out of habit. It ISN’T like Vietnam in several ways too- We have fought a war like this before, and are better equipped to do it, and we are doing it not as advisors (initially anyway) but as warriors and bringers of serious hurting down onto the rotten heads of some really bad punks…It was about time we cleaned that house…How many UN resolutions was Saddam inviolation of? Who else was stepping up to back their words with deeds? But the remaining flies need to swatted in that house so our guys can move on! The “home owners” who live their need to grab the can of raid and let the Orkin man go to the next job…or take some much deserved R&R. Iran is looking like it might need a smack down…and N. Korea might need to have their mouth washed out with soap…but maybe its all words? I don’t know.

BTW- I’m not partisan. I don’t go for party, or men, I go for ideas and actions. So far the Democrats- have about 10% of what I believe in common with their platform even though they claim they are for much more…they just don’t live it. the Republicans have about 70% in common with my beliefs and they walk the talk much better than the Democrat party. So I vote for who I agree with most. That being said, they are all politicians, and at least 30% crooked.

You don’t like congress - this bunch adds on too many riders…well, duh. its been that way since the get go…its a form of balance. if one side doesn’t want the bill to go through, they tack on a rider which is designed to unpallatable for the opposing side or beneficial to their own…many times these go right through since any commitee, any gropup of differing opinions will never see eye to eye on anything for very long, if ever. It does require compromise, but what do you think is acceptable to compromise? Liberty? Security? Choice? Beliefs? Income?

  34. Tinkerjeep Says:

Well, that doesn’t seem much shorter than yours does it?

  35. Scooter Says:

Wow. I thought this was winding down. A lot was posted after my one and only post. I need a bit of time to look at it all and comment.
I can see no one is going to be perswaded by the others argument. From a quick read, no one is even agreeing on “facts”. But as they say on TV and radio, facts are stubborn things. It will all come out in the wash, might take years, but we will see who was lying… eventually. I have an opinion as does everyone posting here. We’ll see, eventually.

  36. TheKingOfMen Says:

Good Lord - Bush has F’d up this country worse than it has ever been.

BUT - If we impeach him = Cheney (the devil himself) would become president.

Bush is only a pawn in the big game, Cheney is a crooked rook.

Impeaching isn’t the answer (unless they impeach everyone in office & the UN also)
WE MUST EDUCATE THE PUBLIC SO THIS NEVER EVER HAPPENS AGAIN.

Turn off Seinfeld & look at what has happened to our country while you had your head in the “dumb-box”.

Isn’t there a good samaritan/politician law? Failure to take action is just as bad as giving Bush permission to destroy our planet.

    - The King of Men

  37. tinkerjeep Says:

Well, that about says it all. Let’s impeach any and every ruler of men, since they are all evil men and currupted since power corrupts, right “your majesty”?

  38. TheKingOfMen Says:

I think it’s pretty obvious which politicians work for the people and which work for our tax dollars. When a vice-president demands that the CIA falsifies information so he can start a war, someone needs to step forward and stand up. When a president allows thousands of his own people to be massacred in order to create a fear that allows him to strip us of our rights and freedom, we ALL need to stand up.

What has been going on in our government isn’t right AND WE ALL KNOW IT. I am still in shock & awe that more Americans aren’t standing up for themselves while we still can.

Neil is setting a damn good example by standing up. Don’t listen to what they tell you on TV (the networks are paid for). Start asking questions and stand up for our rights that we were born with - so we can die knowing that our children will have them too.

    - The King of Men

  39. TheKingOfMen Says:

How about we just do what they killed Kenedy for preparing to do?

Dismantle the CIA, abolish the federal reserve, and tell our troops to come back home to their families.

. . . It would be nice if they’d cut with the depleted uranium and the man-made disease issues too.

    - The King of Men

  40. tinkerjeep Says:

So you’re pretty well a paranoiac hunh? Everybody out to get you, right? I love you conspiracy theorists! Hey, did you ever watch any of the X-files episodes…cuz your brand of fear follows right along some of their plot lines.

Geez, anybody who tags themselves as “TheKingOfMen” and spouts such extreme paranoiac drivel as you do has to have a few mental problems.

Keep taking those meds, buddy. The aliens are coming to save you from Bush and the Uber Reich of puppeteers who secretly run the world.

  41. DJ Says:

Remember, it’s a free fucking country, and we should probably respect each others opinions and beliefs a little more. I fucking hate people who can’t shut up when someone doesn’t agree with how they believe or vote or whatever.

Tinkerjeep, the answer isn’t to just wholey insult people you don’t agree with by suggesting they need to take meds– you’re following your own statements of just “repeat” with your own flavor of vitriol. Frankly, I’m sick of it.

Find another website to go troll about on. Thanks.

That’s me asking you to not post here, nicely. I’m sure you’ll feel the need to unload some crazy, Bush Kool-Aid rant before you go about your way.

  42. TheKingOfMen Says:

I don’t watch TV - except for football games. And I don’t take pills - not even asperin. And - if I was paranoid, don’t you think I would be cowering in a corner (or under a bridge) instead of speaking out. You ASSume way too much, tinkertroll. Only a fool casts blind insults so freely.

DJ is right on point. This blog is about a man (Neil) who has stepped forward to educate the public on some very serious issues. He is standing up as a leader and only the bravest of Americans will stand with him. Like DJ said: we live in a free country where men have the right to feel, think, and say WHATEVER they want. We call this “FREEDOM OF SPEECH”. And if America doesn’t open its eyes soon - we might just lose that too.

    - The King of Men

  43. tinkerjeep Says:

Okay, fine - you aren’t paranoid…everybody really IS out to get you! Seriously - you sure make statements that sound like they are coming from some whacked out conspiracy theorist.

Why don’t you watch the TV? Too much propaganda bandied about by the media? Tired of seeing E.D. drugs rammed down our throats. Don’t give a shit about who or what Paris Hilton is doing or who the next American Idol will be? What exactly is it? You waste time watching a game that has absolutley no signifigance to the course of the universe, yet you won’t watch anything else…just not enough time? Or don’t feel like spending the extra money on Cable…I can’t say I blame you there, but I want to actually hear why you don’t watch TV.

Neil young is an educator, brave American, and leader? How is accusing a man of lieing, educational? That’s not teaching, that’s attacking…teach us how and where he lied and make it convincing, bud! No contrived documents and screaming the chants louder don’t work on me…the louder the yelling, the deafer I become.

How is calling for impeachment brave or heroic? Its asking for someone in power who may or may not have done something wrong to be put on trial…Ken Starr oughta be Knighted for impeaching Clinton then, going by that logic.

Yeah, You and Neil and Mr. Coffman all have the right to speak freely…that freedom of speech does NOT, however gaurantee the following- A) that you are right; B) that you will go unchallenged; C) that you will be heard; D) that anyone will even care; E) That you won’t be outright laughed at as the fools many will take you to be…whether they or you are right or not; F) that you are entitled to any preferential treatment because of your statements. This goes for any and every American citizen…I SAID “AMERICAN CITIZEN”, because our Bill of Rights does not apply to illegal immigrants or foreign subversives.

Back to being “educated by a 60 year old hippy” - He’s not educating me…I’ve heard the same old accusations from other flapping lips and the same old hollow chants from other radical liberals. I’ll be glad when all the Hippy baby boomers finally go to their resting place, maybe then the same stupid, nonsensical, radical bullshit they keep spewing will go to rest too. Then we can get on with life and try to make our country a better place to live instead of crying about how conservatives are all fucking up the planet!

I mean”Nixon lied, Reagan lied, Bush 41 lied, Bush 43 lied” it gets old and tired. They’re politicians, you expect them to actually be your avatar, your savior - all holy, perfect, and sinless? Grow up allready! The dissenchantment is long over - you people had your free ride in the 60s. This isn’t Vietnam, Draft dodging, Watergate, and Tricky-Dicky. No, the page of history has turned…but not the page in your playbook.

Talk about a freedom revoked! You revoke your own freedom to think logically, and then you play the blame game with the government…oh yeah, you are so pursecuted by the Patriot Act! Your freedom of speech is so trampled! How many times have you been illegally searched and siezed, or denied trial by your peers? How many times have you even been arrested for spouting anti-Bush/Cheney/Rummy rants? This borders on sedition by its very definition. We are in a WAR. You are trying to get the CINC of the US Armed Forces impeached while he is presiding in office during said war. I’d call that treason. Every one of these publicized “We hate Bush” We hate War!” “Bush lied!” rallies is giving aid and comfort to our enemies…not your enemies, because they hate bush too and they hate war, but I ‘meant “our enemies” to mean the enemies of the freedom loving, Americans who, despite their grieveances with Bush’s domestic policies, have stood behind him and our troops in a war on terror. But you still get away with this crap and you think the patriot act is breathing down your neck…Rummy is gonna snatch you in the night and take you off to neverland where WackoJacko can mollest you or whatever implausible terror you folks have dreamed up. Just get over yourself and join the real world where we all pretty much accept that it ain’t a perfect place, and you crying about how rotten everybody is, ain’t gonna make it perfect. Accept that bad things happen and you have to roll with the punches, and try to make the best of the situation, not scream and cry cuz “BIG BROTHER” MIGHT take your candy and lock you in your closet!

And call me an ignorant ol redneck, but what the hell is the signifigance of the term “troll” as it has been applied to me several times now.

  44. TheKingOfMen Says:

Uhhh maybe the reason that you are hearing so much about these issues is because they are REAL issues. Not all of us are just going to lie down and take it like you, tinkerbell. Do you honestly approve of a president that bought an election, allowed thousands of people to be killed (9/11), and constantly lies to his own people? It’s about time that something be done about this in a big way. This is exactly why Neil wrote this new album.

For as long as I know of - it has been considered high treason to lie to congess, lie to world leaders in order to make money, and to allow a communist country to take over a major seabase in a time of war. And I believe that the punishment for that kind of high treason has always been death.

You can’t just ASSume everything - and you can no longer just take the “official story” as the final verdict on most of these issues (especially when it is contradicted by ALL of the facts). You can only be educated if you listen. If you already know everything = you will remain a fool forever. Learn to think for yourself, do research, and decide for yourself what the truth is.

You have the freedom to swallow the shit that they are shoveling. You also have the freedom to call anyone that thinks for themself a hippie, pillpopper, or a theorist. And you will also have the freedom to watch the entire pile get flushed down the drain with your country and your people because you just stood there and let them bury you in shit. How long can a guy actually swim around in a pool of shit before he realizes that it’s shit & decides to climb out?

    - The King of Men

  45. tinkerjeep Says:

“How long can a guy actually swim around in a pool of shit before he realizes that it’s shit & decides to climb out?

Isn’t it time you got out of the pool, then?
    Follow your own advice.

  46. Bruce Says:

When Neil Young lost his father, I wrote this for him:

Father’s Day Song of Sympathy for Neil Young
words and music by Dr. BLT (c)2005
    http://www.drblt.com/music/FathersDayYoung.mp3

When Neil wrote Impeach the President, I wrote this for Neil, in protest:

    Neil Young (Have You Forgotten)
words and music by Dr. BLT (c)2005
    http://www.drblt.com/music/neilyoung.mp3

There’s a time for sympathy, and a time for protest.

  47. TheKingOfMen Says:

Just like a troll to blindly quote someone without undrestanding at all what it means.

    I’ll paraphrase for you, tinkerbell:
Pull your head out of your ass and look around at what is going on.

We’re already in way over our heads. Had the pilots from NORAD followed orders and let the FOURTH plane hit the Capitol - we would probably be under martial law right now. I don’t find that amusing at all.

    - The King of Men

  48. tinkerjeep Says:

I am taking you in context, I just thought it would be pointless to quote the whole body of your speech so I just quoted your main point, the crux of your rant, got it?

And everything you ranted about seems like it can apply to you, but your own perspective won’t allow you to see that you may not be right in your beliefs…but whatever.

I’m not going to ask you for your facts or evidence, I know you haven’t got it. I’m not going to ask you to argue logically, because you are too filled with hate to do that. I’m not going to ask you any more questions because you are incapable of answering them intelligently. I’m not going to make any more clarifying statements because they will be lost on you. Instead, I’ll just make fun of you -

“BUSH IS A NAZI! THE PATRIOT ACT IS EVIL! THE BLACK HELICOPTERS ARE COMING! SAVE THE TV SO I CAN WATCH FOOTBALL AFTER BUSH DESTROYS THE WORLD! blahblahblah.

  49. DJ Says:

Well, I asked nicely, but apparently it was ignored– if you’re looking to just antagonize on my site, which you obviously are and are not open minded yourself– anyways, I asked nicely, and you decided to either shit on that or ignore it, so bugger off now. You’ve been half-banned from posting.

  50. TheKingOfMen Says:

He’s not very bright is he, DJ?

Don’t be asking for facts - go find them. A real man would. Only a true troll would spam ridiculous sarcastic comments like tinkerbell that have absolutely no intelectual value. Blog is a form of communication - and communication is the exchange of ideas. No one wants to read a blog where every other entry is a second grader that not only has nothing to communicate - but writes paragraph upon paragraph about how he is too ignorant to do any research and is still in the dark about most of the topics.

All of the information is available to you on the internet. All you have to do is Google the terms and you will find article upon article written about these issues. For any given event/topic there are normally three stories. The best stories are given by local news crews that are on scene before “the official story” comes from our government. These initial reports are typically unbiased and are developed from real events. Then “the official story” is released and typically contradicts the initial story and most of the facts. At this point “the official story” is spammed around the world by networks that are owned by the same people that run the world (the people that tell Bush what to do). Most people fall for this bait and people like tinkerbell even swallow the hook and sinker too. Then in the aftermath, while the “official story” is being spammed around the world by every major network - people who really care (and really know what is going on) write about the events in an effort to educate the public on the facts. Of course, there are plenty of trolls out there like tinkerbell - so you have to use your own judgement to distinguish fact from fiction.

A quick example: Watch the newsreels that were taken on the scene by local news crews in 1995 of the Alfred Murrah Building bombing in Oklahoma. You will hear them repeatedly talk about how TWO bombs blew up IN the building and how the building was BLOWN OUT all over the street. You will also witness the scuffle first hand as the people are RUNNING for their lives because there were still more undetonated bombs that were being removed by bomb squads. After “the official story” was released - all of this was somehow forgotten. There are countless reports and evidence that undoubtably show what really happened on that day - but they are only available to those who actively look for the truth. If we just go by what Bush tells us - we will find ourselves on a stringer or worse (in a live-well).

I will warn you. If you research any major events like this, you will find information and truths that will not only make you uncomfortable - they will make you sick to your stomach. But if you just sit back and ignore all of this - we will all witness a real terror first hand that we haven’t had to deal with for sixty years.

    - The King of Men

  51. TheKingOfMen Says:

Well, those are your words - if that’s what YOU think. I would say your comments are more along the lines of pointlessly sarcastic or content-less - kind of like a second grade child retorting “La la la. I can’t hear you”.

Neil Young wrote the song “Let’s Impeach the President” for people like you that are so deep in denial that you have been blinded from the truth. Politics may make you feel uncomfortable but Neil is talking about YOUR president, YOUR government, YOUR country, YOUR world, YOUR friends and family, and YOUR life. It is your right, privilege, and duty to protect your own way of life and what you love. Acting immature isn’t going to help our current situation. We can’t just wait for someone else to stand up for us - WE MUST STAND UP FOR OURSELVES AS A NATION.

I sincerely hope that we can resolve these issues before it’s too late - but I’m afraid that it might already be just that.

If you like this song by Neil Young, you should also check out the song from the new album by P!nk (I’m Not Dead - 2006) called “Dear Mr. President”.

    - The King of Men

  52. Scott Says:

i gota ask, why the hell was clinton in so much shit for a blowjob, and “W” is allowed to run wild as an idiot dictator. who the hell is suposed to start the impeechment trial? with one of the lowest aprooval ratings ever, its obvious that “we the people” dont want him in office. But when the hell as what we the people want matter in the Corprate States Of Amarica?

  53. Bruce Says:

KingofMen reminds me of that King in Metalica’s “King of Nothing” song. And Scott, just as a reminder, Clinton was impeached for lying under oath. Perhaps they were a little too hard on him, but I don’t think you pin all of the world’s problems on President Bush either. BTW, I heard that some of you older folks couldn’t relate to the modern groove in Neil Young (Have You Forgotten) so I’m offering you this tune as a replacement:

    One September Mournin’
words and music by Dr. BLT (c)2001
    Performed by Sacramento Bands Together
    http://www.drblt.com/music/OneSeptMourn.mp3

I aim to please, so if you don’t like this one either, I’ll be sure to find a song that you will like.

  54. TheKingOfMen Says:

There are two main reasons why Bill Clinton was got so much press for getting caught with his pants down (aside from the obvious reason). First is because there was already a group trying relentlessly to catch him with his pants down - they didn’t expect it to be literally. They did everything that they could to give him a bad name including borderline treason and lies. The second reason is because they were playing the old magician’s trick where you watch only the hand thats moving and lose track of what the other hand is doing.

Typically when you see news stories like this that are dragged on and drawn out to the point wehre its on every channel for way longer than anyone cares to hear about is because there are other things going on in the world that they don’t want you to focus on (normally the bombing of a small country or the passing of unconstitutional laws). I know for a fact that this is true about the Monica scandal and the OJ murder case. I have also heard information that this was the case on a few other big news stories that involved the personal lives of famous people.

On another note - it seems that they are trying to get a big ticket for Hillary to obtain a very scary position in the executive branch. If she can’t satisfy her own husband - how in the hell is she going to satisfy the whole country?

btw, Bruce - I didn’t choose this name. It was given to me by someone that I helped. Origin: Lord of the Rings. Did you like “Red, White, & Blue” by Lynyrd Skynyrd (2005 I think)?

    - The King of Men

  55. Bruce Says:

I’m not familiar with that one, King of Men.

  56. TheKingOfMen Says:

Ah, You’re missing out on a five star track by a great band. Look it up on iTunes or something. “Just trynna sing the truth to you.” Lynyrd Skynyrd “Red, White & Blue” from the 2004 all-new album “Vicious Cycle”.

  57. TheKingOfMen Says:

The following link will help explain to those of you left wondering what Neil is talking about “someone just not home that day”. New Orleans never should have flooded.

In 1718 they built 3′ tall levees around New Orleans (most of the city is actually 6′ below sea level). In 1966 a major project to build proper levees started after the devastating Hurricane Betsy in 1965 (coincidence that we were also at war then). Now 40 years later the levees are STILL not complete. That is why so many people died. Would you have a tiger cage in your backyard where your children play with a 4 foot opening in the cage?

It’s not like Katrina was a freak of nature - they have hurricanes almost every year.
