I’m in a Dark Horse Comic! Buy it now!
Hey folks. I guess I can finally spill the beans here. I’ll be doing regular backups in the new Dark Horse series, “ARCHENEMIES” written by Drew Melbourne. It’s in the Previews catalog right now for ordering at your local shops, or you can order online at TFAW.com
Looks like they have a nifty site up too at http://www.archenemiesonline.com - That book is SWEET looking.
Funny story about how I got this little gig. I actually owed Drew Melbourne money. I’m the worst bookkeeper in history. A few years ago, he hired me to do a book of his called THE STRIKES, and I think I was drawing the Monkey Man books for Brian Lynch at the time as well, back when I was juggling like 3 or 4 projects at once and stressing myself out beyond belief. I was stoked about drawing the STRIKES, (which I won’t say much about because I’m sure Drew will do it again someday), and I ended up dropping the ball on getting the work the way I wanted it so I turned the job down. Drew had actually paid me money upfront that I was paying back to him, and I thought I had gotten it all squared away. Fast forward like 800 days….. I get an e-mail from Drew saying I still owed him money, and I can either pay him back or he’s going to break my legs….
I kid, I kid… he said I could pay him back by doing this backup in his new DARK HORSE comic book series. Holy crap, what kind of payback is that!? That is a hell of deal. So, you know, put the word out on the street that Drew Melbourne is a one bad mamajama and a hell of a nice guy… and DO go check out that new series. Again… WITH THE LINK.

Alright, this is going to sound silly to those artists out there, but I’m going to ask anyway. What does it meant to be “doing regular backups” for someone?
Sorry for the lame-ass question, but I would like to know.
P.S. Congrats on the gig, DJ! I may not know what it means, but I can certainly appreciate the words “Dark” and “Horse”. I mean, I am a child of the nineties here.

Fuckin’ sweet DJ. Darkhorse has put out some of the best stuff over the years. A backup story by DJ? Just another reason to buy Dark Horse comics.
Congrats

To clarify— the backup is a mini cartoony type comic written by Drew Melboured with art/color/lettering by me. The first issue is like a 12 panel ditty.
