If they were worried about danger to Mr. Cheney, they would have gone after him right away. They waited till the cameras were gone, he had gone home, there was clearly no threat whatsoever, the incident was all over, and *then* went to town on him. That aint’ cool, kids.

Relax, this ain’t 1984. The guy has freedom of speech, yes, but he COULD have been a wacko getting ready to do something dangerous. His behavior was odd, an d the Secret Service has to check out potential threats. It’s not like they put the guy in jail or anything.

yeah it is an issue of freedom of speech…however take some time to remember that the area was under Martial law at the time…you know what that means? it means anything not allowed under military rules is illegal. He is legally able to be arrested because such an exclamation can be considered an indirect threat that needs to be nuetralized.

I totally agree with you Evil Bob. It’s definitely an issue of freedom of speech. I mean, it’s not like he was threatening Cheney. He was just simply stating how he felt.

Uhhh… I don’t really think it’s an issue of whether or not he was swearing at the VP or being immature; it seems more to me an issue of freedom of speech. He shouldn’t even have been hassled!

If they put you in handcuffs and detain you, you’re under arrest. They shouldn’t have put him in handcuffs at all. That was ridiculous.

Uhm… If you actually read the article you’ll notice he WASN’T ARRESTED.

The MPs did get his name and information though…

I’m in no way pro-Bush or Cheney, but come on! Demagoguery on either side is just horrible.
