Gifts for Bob

Gifts for Bob

This strip submitted without any comment….HURK!!

I’ll blog more today as I feel like it. I’m kinda buried in caricature work at the moment. Wee!

This just in! William G is a crybaby

How many times is this guy going to quit giving a crap about the webcomics scene and whine about it on his site? It’s getting old, Willy. Link. - It seems he REALLY can’t stand places like Penny Arcade or PvP getting mentioned at all. And when you agree that they did something right, you MUST be “drinking the kool-aid”…. Blah…. maybe he’d be better off with a lemonaide stand? Because, maybe it’s just me, but the dude is kinda sour. We still love you Willy G! And you still own the “Biggest Troll” award for Webcomics. Grats!

    You should’ve given him Retardakitty

    Great Strip today.

    Funny poopie.

  5. Adam Black Says:

Someone needs to give “unfan” his Midol back. Starting to get a little pissy there.

    ~HURK!~

  6. Thomas Says:

Haha, this strip is great. I love how Bob keeps correcting DJ by saying “It’s my apartment” like that is so much better than having a job. Then again it beats the bridge.

The art there is great, Bob looks like the end-of-level boss for a Sega Platformer there.

  7. Aeon Says:

Hey DJ, I’m tryin’ to email you but it doesn’t seem to be working. Turn y’alls spam filter down man!

Seriously though, drop me an email. Semi-urgent.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but my company is suffering large layoffs today. Around the area of 700 people I guess.. 300 from my city… 10 from my department… I had the day off to go to my sister’s graduation from college, and I am not quite sure what will happen Monday.

God.. being a corporate cog sucks massive balls…. Especially when the company is way too ’stock driven’. Of course this is what… nine days before christmas? Lovely. So if anyone knows anyone who works at First Data - be it Corp. or Resources, wish them a merry christmas/holiday/new year. It’s going to be rough for all those who remain, and even worse for those who were let go.

    Love the holidays!

  10. Neil Says:

Heh, the place i used to work has just outsourced all their call centers to india, laid off about 300 people from my city alone.

Given that most of those people were students barely able to pay rent and eat a meal a day, i dont think they will be enjoying the holidays either :P

  11. DJ Says:

JEREMY! — Dude, that sucks bad man. I’ve been exactly where you are, brother, and I know it sucks. It’s a real downer to realize there’s no such thing as “job security” these days. No matter how many people think they’re job is secure.

Our local Sony plant also just laid off 500 workers. I hate them. They have these massive ad campaigns saying how great they are and how people should work there, then they shitcan you when their numbers are filled—- but you never hear the stories about the layoffs and how it’s effecting REAL people… only that the company is HIRING 1000 new people! —-

UGH….. This is a real sore subject for me, and I could rant about it all day. I’m really sorry you have to deal with that and right before Xmas too. Goddamn.

  12. Kevin Says:

Sorry Jeremy. What a horrible Christmas gift! You’d think they do this on purpose, eh?

    *Begin Rant*

The way I see it, “Free trade” has completely killed any sort of job security (or senority), especially here in North America. If your job can be done cheaper or if it can be merged with some other job (usually done by some kid, fresh out of school and at a lower wage), you’re toast. And the older you get, the harder these companies want to shake you loose.

Unions (for those lucky enough to be in one) can’t do anything to protect you either. The companies over here are literally competing with overseas slave labor. And it doesn’t matter how good of a worker you are, at the end of the day, you are still just an employee number; and when you’re number comes up… that’s it.

We’re sliding back into the age of the “Industrial Revolution” (but this time, it’s on a global scale).

    *End Rant*

    Great comic today! “Hurk!” :)
