DISCUSSION: Yirmumah strip/site layout
Looking for outside feedback on a few things… check out this thread topic in the forum.
UPDATE
Ok, I decided to stick with the current strip setup, but as you can see, I’ve been tweeking the wordpress theme a good bit. Take a look around, and excuse and goofups through Sunday– Thanks!

I like it just the way it is.. I hate scrolling sideways to see stuff, and the present vertical layout is the best thing I’ve ever seen.
Just my half-assed opinion..
It ain’t broke..

I like the new layout better than the old one, and I like the strip horizontally more than vertically.

I like the current setup better than the newer one. Virtually everyone else uses a horizontal layout and this vertical style is refreshing and just smacks of Yirmumah. The horizontal feels a little more like GPF and just didn’t have that same snarky feel. Kind of like expecting a mouthful of great chili and getting Hormel. Good, but not quite the same.

bah, I love this new layout so far. The background is much more integrated aesthetically. As far a vertical vs. horizontal strip? who the hell says you can’t still do both formats with a new interface? Hell, you could put the strip in a frame for all I care, just bring me the funny, dancing monkey! Show me the FUNNY!!! lol sorry, got possessed by Xenu from Scientology there. oops. Seriously though, as an artist, I like this new format so far. We’ll see how the strips integrate and if you like doing a horizontal format, but honestly I think the old version was lacking in unity and this seems to tie together much more seamlessly. Kudos on having the cojones to try something new.

WOW. I completely hate this grey checkerboard background. I much preferred the bright colors. Seems that’s just me, though.

It’s all fluid right now, I’m no sure what will stay or what will go… The Flannel background, I’m attached to though.

Whatev. Won’t stop me from visiting.
When I was doing the sci fi mag, my site’s background was stars and text was white. Several times I was asked if I could change to black text. I told ‘em they could block and copy to Word if it bugged them that much.
So what’s my point? Partly that I do love to blather on. And also that you should do whatever you think is right. There’s what, 8,000 unique hits a day? The great majority of those people don’t comment. You’ll know by the hits what works and what doesn’t.

At first I nearly vomit on this grey thing (yep, exaggerating a bit here). Then I maximized the window and liked it.
Is the “broken shadow” effect in the repeated background image on purpose?
Re black on white or viceversa, please, people, make it easy on the eye. Sure, it’s your site and you should do as you please. I also admit there are uses for white on black and other monstrosities and instances for which usability should be forgotten if it goes against other objectives. But please, think of the children.
Anyway, when I like the content (and this is one of those sites), I can just click my nocolor bookmarklet. But again, think of the children.

I ditched the background flannel graphic…
Thanks for everyone’s input!

Mostly I like it, though to be honest, the previous comic/next comic buttons could do with being a little more blatent than they are.

What happened to the link to your ‘How to make money’ page? I don’t have a webcomic but I found it to be an interesting read.
And no, I didn’t bookmark it. I’m an idiot.

Yeah, i ditched a bunch of links.. I should add it back on there, it’s actually still there, I just have that menu list turned off so no one can see it.

Thanks for putting it back. I’ll make sure to bookmark it this time.
