Five years…. seems like just yesterday.
Hey, that ABC miniseries was pretty darn good. I hope the government and people learn something from it. And, isn’t it about time we went into Pakistan and nailed that Bin Laden guy to a wall? I mean… 5 years. One guy. Geez.

NOT a python scene.

Do I detect some parallels here?

Although it seems pretty historically accurate, remember that that ABC movie is NOT a documentary, and has been dramatized for sensational television. I think it’d be easy for people to lose sight of that.

Wow. That’s dark. Hope there’s some funny coming.
The “mom” sequence was dark, disturbing, and very real to life. Also a touch of Sandman in the “I only take you to the gates” bit. So I enjoyed it. Will I enjoy witch-burning? Signs point to “it’ll take some work, Schroddy.”

I for one support this new era of witch-burning!
But seriously. quality stuff, used to be a webbie i caught up on every 3 or 4 months. but now im checking back every day to se where the hell this is leading.

Yeah, it’s kinda weird, but ever since I started Origin the returning visitor numbers went up each day, up to quadruple what it was when I was doing jokes and one shot gags.
I gotta thank everyone for following here. I’m glad it’s entertaining… and for those looking for a laugh, it’ll come sooner or later, maybe not with this chapter or most of Origin. It’s kinda dark.

This is great stuff, DJ. I’m amazed that you can produce such detailed work on such a regular basis — I know how much time it takes. I am really enjoying this story arc and when you publish it as a graphic novel (which I hope you will) I’ll be first in line to get a copy.

I’m really enjoying this new stuff! Well, enjoying maybe the wrong word. . . I really like the style and the story lines and whatnot.
Keep it up! You’re becoming a real insperation to me!

99% of webcomics are done for pure fun. You have advanced to the level that you have to think about your audience and the ramifications on your profit line. That being said, I’m damn SURE you haven’t run out of dick jokes.
What you are making right now, is REAL. Real art, real storytelling, based on reality… etc etc Beyond the occasional “where’s the beef?!?” comment, there are none of your fans who isn’t FASCINATED and ENTERTAINED at this insight into other parts of your psyche.
You always have done exactly as you feel like with this webcomic. Sometimes that attitude has been to your detriment. I don’t think my piddly little opinion is going to change that one whit, but for what it’s worth… Please continue storytelling. You are very good at it.

With ORIGIN, I’d like to wrap it all into one BIG BALL of entertainment. You’ll get to know where the dark humor and twisted outlooks come from, explaining where the character of Drew Price came from.– Then I love tying in things like the LLAMA being a spokesperson for the cigarettes like the CAMEL– the COBRA brand beer– and today, you get the ASS KICKING PILGRIM! heh.
I’d like to think ORIGIN adds some depth and insight into the whole Yirmumah experience.

Have you ever spent time with a counselor , D.j. ? Your obvious and poorly hidden inner rage towards women in general frequently themes out your daily strip . Do you also own a corvette or some other male substitute for depth or is the occasional woman bashing strip enough for your ego ? Please get back to drawing comics - at least there you’re in your proper element.
September 11th, 2006 at 7:05 pm
Diane, that was the most random and seriously unneeded comment I have seen.
Please explain to me why you are so angry. I don’t understand it.
Maybe you should see a conselor for your constant male bashing, do you also have a buzz haircut and belong to a feminist organization?
SAME THING!!!

Exactly ! What’s wrong with that chick ? Oops , I said a non - politically correct slang word . Now I’m in trouble fo’ sho ‘ . Seriously Diane…they’re called chill pills . Buy a pack . I’m sure dj would be happy to send you a sample .

Okay…
Foregoing the inclination to try and extract rage from a seemingly oversensitive person, I’d like to see what Diane is refering to. I’ll plainly ask for the referance of woman bashing that occured in this comic. As far as I see, it’s a fairly accurate historical referance, being used in an ongoing story. From a quick view of your words and the content… it seems you are reacting because he DARED use females in his story.
I can’t see any other reasoning. Considering your ire and haughtiness, you obviously don’t feel this is the case. soooooooo.. What the HELL are you thinking???
Please… enlighten us poor males.

What’s ironic is the last thing I listened to on my iPod last night before going to sleep was Witch Hunt by Rush!

It would seem that Diane is more interested in fitting the world into her beliefs than fitting her beliefs to match the world. This is not an uncommon afliction and leads either to complete denial or the rather unpleasant sensation of reality biting one’s ass. Best of luck, Diane. Here’s hoping reality has had it’s shots.
September 12th, 2006 at 2:50 am
Now, I consider myself about as much of a feminist as a man can be, but I fail to see how this is offensive to women. Matter of fact, DJ seems to hold a lot more anger toward male religious leaders than he does toward women.
September 12th, 2006 at 7:39 am
I would like to compliment Diane R. on her astute observations. In the last chapter, Deacon was beat to shit and nearly killed. THAT is a great example of DJ’s anger against women! Then there’s the many times he’s shown his wife as being a better person. ALSO a great example of anti-female sentiment.
And what is lost in all this? DJ’s unreasoning anti-shampoo-bottle rage. All they want to do is dispense shampoo-y goodness, and what’s DJ’s characterization? The poor little bottles get violated in the most disgusting manner imaginable. BOTTLE RAPIST!
September 12th, 2006 at 8:05 am
Wait, wait, I forgot one. At the end of the last chapter, Deacon is desperate to see his daughters, and leaves the only life he knows for a chance to be with them.
DAMN YOU DJ AND YOUR WOMAN-HATING WAYS!!
