Boycotting the Da Vinci Code

SOUL PATROL! SOUL PATROL! - So, it’s down to Taylor Hicks and McPheever. Elliott got voted off, as predicted. You know “Crazy Gray Haired Guy” is going to take the whole thing now. Fo Sho.
I had heard from a friend here that there were actual groups going to the dead mall here in Fayette-Nam to protest the Da Vinci Code movie. I’m thinking about driving by them and mocking them. Ian McKellan made a great point, about Catholics wanting a disclaimer at the beginning of the film saying it’s fiction– Sir Ian says the Bible itself should have a disclaimer of fiction— Man, I love that guy. — OH, and apologies to our Albino readers. I love you, and I know you don’t really have pink eyes.

I love the drama llama’s sign.
And DJ, I totally support you driving by and mocking them. With everything going on in the world, they’re throwing their collective might behind … protesting a bloody Ron Howard film?!! I mean if they were protesting that he usually makes unremarkable pablum (not always, but he’s no Scorcese), I’d understand, but this church stuff is just nonsense.
I hope it makes a ton of money, if only to piss them off. (And put money in Sir Ian’s pocket.:D)

Sure, what’s not to love about religious bigotry?

Thats cute PK, really it is. But you really can’t ride someone’s case for being intolerant of intolerant people. Thats all a bigot is, really. Intolerance of a specific thing.
For example, I’m a bigot towards anyone who believes in censorship of ideas, calls themself a ‘princess’, or has rims on their car that move when they’re at a stop light. Really, if I could round them all up, I’d probably steal their wallets and claim they were mexicans.

You sure can ride someone’s case for being intolerant of ____ people.
Personally, as a Catholic, I think a disclaimer is entirely unnecessary. It’s pretty obvious a movie based on a fiction book is going to be fictional. I mean, duh. But that’s just the crazy vocal minority protesting so vehemently anyway. Most people heard about it, got their panties in a twist about the theory the book uses as a central plot point, still didn’t believe it anyway, and then went back to what they were doing. I’m still amazed people are in such a hubbub about it.

Yeah, I am Catholic too, and I can’t see the big deal about why people are protesting this movie. It’s a FICTION book. Why would you protest something that isn’t admittedly grounded in reality? I mean, it’s like protesting the Transformers because they’re wasting gasoline and polluting the Ozone layer. I just don’t get it.
Any word of protests going on at Westmoreland Mall? I’m probably goin there Saturday to see it, and I don’t want to be condemned to hell by morons.

How is it religious bigotry to call the Bible a work of fiction? There is little historical proof as to its contents. If you believe, then the words of unbelievers should have no effect on your faith. That’s why they call it faith. If God spoke to us on a regular basis, we wouldn’t need faith…..or people that question faith.

It’s the people that God does talk to on a regular basis (according to them) who would make me question faith, particularly theirs.
